Jon, there is a theory that almost any doubled-barrelled village name from Dorset can be given a role in a Barbara Cartland-style story, with the appropriate job and back story. For example Compton Valence - a rich landowner - or Wooton Fitzpaine - the vicar - or Monkton Wyld - a jungle explorer or Maiden Newton - a naive young stable girl etc.

Another fantastic video! The South coast and chines........if you get the chance, pop over the Solent to the Isle of Wight, I'd love to see a few videos from there. Military Road on the island has some spectacular views but erosion means it's currently and risk of falling into the sea near Freshwater. The road between Shanklin and Ventnor is also temporarily closed following a massive landslip last December. Whilst this sounds like a lot of doom and gloom, the Isle of Wight is a beautiful place and it would be great to have it recorded by your good self, just in case these two roads are lost in the future!

Tiny nitpick: originally, the tern "Transportation" as a penalty didn't refer to Australia. Initially, wrong'uns were transported to a different British colony, that was still a long way away from Blighty, yet somewhat more conveniently located. Unfortunately, that arrangement ended sometime after 1776, when some people in this other colony got their knickers in a twist over how expensive tea was becoming. Which is weird, because they don't even drink that much tea now... anyway, this bridge was built before the 1700s, so I wonder which British colony the sign is referring to!

A great video as always Jon. Your dedication to the cause by standing in the pouring rain spouting to a camera on a tripod is unquestioning. Ref Matthews Brewery at Wyke. You say the business was bought up by a competitor, Hall and Woodhouse of Blandford Forum, who promptly closed the business down. In 2000 King & Barnes brewery in Horsham, which featured in a previous video, was also bought out by Hall & Woodhouse who promptly closed the business, demolished the building and sold the land off for housing. So contrary to your opening remark Dorset has contributed something to society - profiting from the closure of rival breweries!
