A little bit of trivia, many years ago (probably before the second disagreement) there was a major Hampshire brewery known as Strongs. To advertise their wares there were large metal signs on entering the county which said, ‘Hampshire born Hampshire bred Strong in the arm and Strong in the head’. Showing a pint glass full of beer. Obviously the second strong was soon substituted for another word, my late dad said it was thick (innocent times back then).

The nearby Five Bridges Road which was the A3335 to Eastleigh, used to connect to the A33 at Hockley traffic lights, which were a notorious bottleneck. As it has now been severed from the main road, you might say it is now abandoned. I'm shocked to see the state of the Royal Pier at Southampton. That was still eminently restorable back in the early 2000s.
