Two yarny videos in a row? I don't play by your rules, KZbin! I also completely forgot to hang up the blanket that stops the worst of the reflections in my glasses, so if you zoom in really far you can probably spot some spoilers for ongoing sewing projects. Not that you would do that of course. That would be weird.

Happy Birthday! Nice of your husband to do so many nice things for/with you! Special, indeed!

He's the best! And he also has a milestone birthday later this year so we're on planning his own birthday week now 😄

I live in Florida and I am so envious of the beautiful scenery where you live and the cute shops you went to! Love it.

That sounds like an awesome event! Such a good reason to get out and about to see new places

Absolutely! It's probably about a decade since we last went to Helmsley and it's a really beautiful little place, sometimes you just need a little push to leave the house 😅

The swatch has me all excited but it might not be an entirely appropriate summer project, haha, I so have other things I should be prioritising. But the purples, they call to meeee...

Love your hair! Thanks for sharing your adventure!
@TheGiddyStitcher6 ай бұрын
I managed to convince myself the hair dye would last a while this time even though it never does. It's gone patchy within a week, haha :D Still, glad I did it, it's been on the list for a while.

It was so so good, highly recommend the birthday week concept to anyone and everyone. And now it's your turn, get that hair dyed and send me pics 😉

What a fun event to participate in for your birthday. (Makes me wonder if there's anything similar in own area.) I hope this year brings you lots of joy and happiness. Happy Birthday. :)

Always worth checking, and if not you can always put together your own route and go crawling anyway 😄 Thank you so much, it's been 6 days and being 40 is already awesome!

I've used the jewelspun yarn before, I think it was the green one I forget the colour name, they're nice yarns for sure and that's coming from someone who really dislikes synthetics XD

Good to know! I use a fair bit of acrylic just for cost reasons but haven't tried much Sirdar, hopefully it'll hold up ok as a cardigan because my old one (Stylecraft Special) has been worn to absolute death 😄

I am also moving to Thirsk... What a gorgeous day out and oh my word those yarns!! "Which yarns, Lyn?" "Yes". The only thing that freaked me out about turning 40 was that it's twice 20. Twenty years feels so long, and I'd done that twice! But I got over it pretty fast. Roll on 50!
@TheGiddyStitcher6 ай бұрын
Oh my god yes we would have the BEST time in Thirsk! All my friends are hitting 40 this year and it's been interesting to see some of them freaking out about it. Think I got my own crisis out of my system at 30 instead :D

@@TheGiddyStitcher yes I worked with someone who had a complete meltdown about 30. I was a sprightly 24 at the time and so discounted her as a drama queen!

Happy yarn-y 40th birthday. 🎉. Enjoy those goodies and...did you know there's a wool show being held in the North East (England) in August? 😉
@TheGiddyStitcher6 ай бұрын
Omg. I knew about some of the bigger ones like Yarndale etc but had NO IDEA there's this one in Newcastle now! Assuming that's the one you're talking about, anyway, and if it's not you led me to it anyway :D DEFINITELY going to try and be brave and make it to that. Woo! Thanks for the tip!
@karenbrooks71976 ай бұрын
Hi Michelle, yes it's the one in Newcastle at the racecourse. It was a new fair last year and very well attended. Saw a lot of the Yarndale traders there too. If you can't wait until August, there's always the Cumbrian Wool Gathering later this month, not that I'm putting temptation your way, of course....😂.

Ah, I miss having lovely local yarn shops. Your recent videos make me want to hop on a plane to the UK and visit the North. During the 4 years we lived in London, we didn't venture out much (which of course I do regret now). I haven't used the Sockenwunder yet but LOVE my 9" circs (I mainly have HiyaHiya as those were the ones available when I learned to knit 10ish years ago). I have a couple Addi 8" ones though and love those a lot (currently knitting a no-heel spiral sock for the kid). Depending on knitting style, it's often a love-or-hate relationship with those needles. Looking forward to your take on them.
@TheGiddyStitcher6 ай бұрын
Can't blame you for falling for the London propaganda. As far as people down there are concerned the north is just abandoned coal mines and crumbling terraced housing. Which, yeah, we have those things but we also have some excellent scenery and quaint villages and nice cities! 😄 If I hate these expensive needles I will hold both the owner of Ripping Yarns and also anyone who ever recommended them in my comments personally responsible 😂
@MaryB19836 ай бұрын
@@TheGiddyStitcher I've actually always wanted to visit the North and Scotland as well. It just never happened, for a couple of reasons including money and anxiety.
