Great video BUT we need a gamer headphone video. What's the best sounding headphone for gaming with just pure sound quality for story based non-competitive games? And what's the best headphone for competitive games? I don't think you've ever weighed in on this in a standalone video that really dives deep into highend gaming headsets or a worst to best list. I would really appreciate your feedback on that.

I recently purchased the pc37x and I'm not sure if I can ever go back to a closed back headset. My favorite to game with has to be the hd58x.

As an audiophile\musician myself, I agree with how Crinicle puts it. The best gaming headphones isn't actually a "gaming" headphone. Plus to adding a lavaliere microphone combo to "said" headphone of choice. Crinicle has a video relative to gaming headphones at every budget. The newer Koss KPH40 or Koss KSC75 and a "PoP voice" lavaliere microphone with a (for controller users) 4-pole Y-adapter headphone+mic. All for around $50-$60 #PunchAboveTheWeightClass You can always upgrade the Mic later, and. That's the best part, it's a modular setup compared to a "gaming headphone".
@JoshuaValour
@JoshuaValour Жыл бұрын
Generally I agree! The "Best" is usually just a headphone. But it's hard to get a good headphone + Volume control + a good Microphone for $80. Usually you have to pick one. Good headphone for $80? Sure! Good Mic? Yup! But both? While both those koss' sound awesome, neither are closed back headphones. So it's hard to compare apples and oranges.
@slicktricks88
@slicktricks88 Жыл бұрын
My mod mic wireless cost more than this entire headset. So yeah, you can build a gaming headset with proper headphones….probably not for $80. My budget headset was a used HE400i and a mod mic. Cost me around….$300?
@pvtghost24

@@slicktricks88 The lowest distortion profile with some of the best Cumulative Spectral Decay and most accurate obecitvely accurate frequency response (with some slight modding) is the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee. Speaking from a perfect pitch objective standpoint, not a subjective preference of colored headphones. I did hours and hours of research and went though a couple ofther headphones till I finally landed on them, for primarily gaming. Shure SRH180, AKG K181 and Etymotic ER2XR (best for accuracte music playback). You can definitely put together the pieces I mentioned. I've already bought two setups for friends of mine, and for less than $30, even after hearing the above headphone I have mentioned and them some, the Koss KSC75 and Koss KPH40 sound far better than what you would assume for the price. Don't think for one second just because they're cheap doesn't mean they are horrible. These are some of the very few unicorns. From data out there, the HE400i has terrible Cumulative Spectral Decay, and is far from being obectively accurate as can be seen here in this one example. Not to say it's a terrible headphone, but it's definitely not great. It's a "colorful" headphone and more about a subjective enjoyable experience than accurate sounds reproduction. diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/headphones/measurements/hifiman/he-400i-2020/

True, though IMHO I concur with Crinacle on this one, if you're at home, it doesn't neccisarily matter. Sound blead while out in public or someone sleeping next you at home would be the rare instances that closd back is needed. If it were at the desk, couch or streaming neither of the Koss should impact that much if at all while streaming, though experiences could vary on that one. I use my Shure SRH1840 open-back and Sennhieser e935 for zoom calls at work and don't experience noise bleed feedback when in meetings.
@pvtghost24
@pvtghost24 Жыл бұрын
@@JoshuaValour The added cost of needing a volume control attachment isn't always needed with controllers, though in some instances it might be needed which would add to the cost. On Xbox in my experience I can use both with\without using the mentioned modular setup. And it does seem in my experience that the budget lavalier microphones sound quite better than ones included with most "dedicated" gaming headsets. That's my other feedback too since my househould currenly has for microphones a Sennhieser e935, Sennhieser MKE600, Shure SM7B(Returned for MKE600) and Saramonic Vmic Mini alongside all the microphones of previous gaming headsets I've used.

What would be the best closed back headphones for competitive gaming? I’ve used open backs (HD560s) but I feel like I can’t hear footsteps as well. Maybe because I’m in a noise environment. But I currently use the cloud ll. I’m just curious if there’s any other closed backs that would be good for esports. Thank ya!!!

Nice vid Josh. These seem decent for the price. As far as gaming headsets - I wish i knew about what I’m going to say now years ago… get a good regular headset with a single detachable 3.5mm cable like the Phillips H2XR’s (about $125) and get the V moda 3.5mm cable with their mic ($20-25) It’s a better mic than found on any headset you’ll find under $200. And this will blow away any gaming headset under that price as well.

@JayCruz49er
@JayCruz49er Жыл бұрын
@@stephen0993 i did get the H3X and I really like them. Main complaint is the fit. It’s a bit snug but the sound is solid and for $80 you really can’t do better. The PC37X is $80 right. Ok and if you prefer open back I would go with those. Can’t go wrong with either to be honest. In regards to your bass question the H3X is better cuz of the closed back nature. They are very solid. Open back PC37X have great bass as well but if you game in a noisy environment then go with the H3X’s. Enjoy my friend!

@@JoshuaValour Hey Josh, do you plan on reviewing the Sennheiser HD 300 Pro in the future? I almost can't find anything on it on the web, but the single graph from Sonarworks looks rather promising, maybe a bit bloated in the midbass, but otherwise quite nice for a closed back for under 200€ and build quality also seems a lot better than that of the K371 for example.

Ya…this thing is pretty bad. Drop still failed imo Beyer actually has a well tuned gaming headset under $100 too i’m pretty sure. The lack of upper treble is the least of this headphone’s problems… pinna gain is horrendous, silly uneven bass curve. 6khz being the highest level. ugly. ugly ugly ugly. more of a slap in the face too when you realize how ridiculous IEMs have gotten for half or less than half this price. 7hz zero, tangzu wan’er, quarks dsp, and there’s more every day the competition is getting even more insane! this kind of mediocrity would never fly if it wasn’t advertised for “gaymers”
