Thanks so much for coming back and checking out the Echoes update... the team has been working their @sses off and we dont plan on stopping anytime soon. Excited to hear your thoughts once you get to Frostmarch!

You and your team did an amazing job honestly, doing this many revamps and adding this many new mechanics in less than 6 months is definitely deserving of high praises. I'm honestly confident this game will manage to find a new audience, especially if you guys can afford to sponsor some streamers for the 1.0 release. In any case, keep up the good work, the game has even more potential now that it's a Co-Op ARPG.

I totally agree. It's really great to see them retool and move away from the always-online aspect, especially after it seemed to suffer issues. After putting their hearts and souls into this, even with some flaws, it is a labor of love, and moving it to single-player may be just the saving grace for them. I hope this game gets the attention it deserves!!

The world can change massively and meaningfully in an MMO. It requires a phasing system. So the new player still has the world as it was until they get the point in the story you are at.
@MirageGSM5 ай бұрын
Regarding changing areas in MMOs - WOW had that back in the days of Wrath of the Lich King. Open world areas that were instanced depending on your quest progress where you could see only players who had the same quest progress. I especially remember Zul'Drak where you conquered the area bit by bit and established bases. It was in other zones too, but that one I remember best. The technology to do staff like that in MMOs has been around for more than 15 years.

I am fully of the belief that some MMO's would benefit massively from having a singleplayer and/or co-op version for the people that want to play and experience those stories but just aren't going to bother with all the MMO elements. Personally, would snap up such versions of ESO, Fallout 76 (especially if you could start at the proper starting point where there are no NPC's around) and The Old Republic in an instant if they made them as I am a major fan of all of those things but just not an MMO person.

Holy shit, I feel like I just listened to a friend trying to explain a boardgame for half an hour and not understanding half of what was said, because it's all lore related and you just entered the world. I feel like they could decrease the amount of monologue explanationy stuff by 60% and have the game explain itself a lot more. Would make for a better early game experience IMO

I agree with the hole mmorpg online play most of the time when new people play the game and go into a mission they get matched with mid to late game players and end up running around exploring the game while the mid to late gamers rush the mission and trust me its not fun at all and at the end of the day you dont want to play the game no more some mmos are fine like that but when it comes to games like this i think the co-op is a perfect fit it goes very well with the game play and style of the game and so far all tho i just watched 30min of the game i already wishedlisted it on steam right away and didnt want to spoil the game for myself nor the story xD i wanted to go on steam and buy/download it but it wasnt out yet lol bummer looks so much fun its so hard to find fun games to play lately not very good games are coming out lately but this looks fun cant wait to play it xD

38:39 The reason most MMOs will not use client side servers/code is because of how EASY it is to cheat. Even games like Elden Ring could easily be cheated with some codes or bots, then brought the game online, but still had those items/whatever the cheat provided. Server side code, means that it is constantly checking and verifying the game, including files, stats, etc - so that way you cannot cheat in an MMO game. They have to do it that way, unless they want the game filled with hackers that are going to just ruin everyone's time.

honestly I'm much more interested in this game now, that it's not an MMORPG anymore. Let's hope there's way less grind and a nicely paced experience, that values your time. @wanderbots5 ай бұрын
Kinda. Most armor pieces come with small +% stat bonuses, so you can mix & match to fit your build. But there's also a style menu where you can change how each slot looks, without affecting stats. It's a very solid change.

the grind in mmorpgs was fun, back when the games weren't about being games first, and social hubs fifth... everquests grind was a lot more compelling to me, because i wasn't there for the levleling and gear... sure that was a fun activity to do with the people... BUT I WAS THERE FOR THE PEOPLE. same for dark age of camelot and eve... and WoW in the early days.. the gameplay was good enough to be an activity i did with/to the people... but hardly the main draw! a lot of modern mmorpgs, esp many asian ones when ported to the west (but also many western ones), seem to have lost that fundamental first pillar... community
@wanderbots5 ай бұрын
I think the community aspect is a lot harder nowadays. Everquest worked because it was one of very few MMO's. Now we have easily 100 MMO/Live service games competing for gamers' attentions, so it's a lot harder for any of them to have the same draw nor longevity.

I also hope they soon implement a way to support the devs @sir_snarf (some MTX or tower-content, like mounts etc. - no p2w items of course). Plus IMO this maybe the next game to play with my kids (+-10 years old) in coop - and there are only very few games out there to be played w/ my kids (being worth our time). And - looking forward to the game-lobby system they announced to implement in the future, so we may find games to join :).

The problem with taking a game designed to be an MMO and turning into a single player experience is typically MMOs have a shitty story that everyone just wants to speed through to get to end game as soon as possible. A single player game can not have a shit story. This game would then be forced to rely its 'end game' or its combat to be reviewed as a good game if the MMO aspects are gone. This isnt a Souls-like game or a Darksiders type hack n slash where games like that are entirely reviewed based on their combat, challenge and progression experience.
@wanderbots5 ай бұрын
Wayfinder is in a weird niche where they can almost get away with being MMO-adjacent, because it offers the MMO experience without the grind, and I can't think of many games that do that other than Diablo & Path of Exile. I doubt it'll appeal to people who want another Dark Souls/Elden Ring, but it has a lot of appeal for families, couples, or really anyone who likes MMO's but doesn't want the grind.

I really don’t like the attack combo animations in this game. These odd pauses in between attacks, like the character is holding back the attack on purpose… And it has this monotone rhythm to it.. Look at the combat in Genshin Impact for example, looks freaking epic compared to this
