In the same time this year, less than 2% of flights were cancelled. I understand that you probably don't know your numbers but 4.1 is more than double of 2. My field of work used to have maybe 5-6 eligible people for a managerial position, all of them with similar training, skills and experience. When this diversity and inclusion stuff began, if one of them happened to be a woman or a member of protected minorities, this person would get the job. BUT... at least this person was competent and would deliver. Nowadays, 15 years later, if among those 5-6 highly qualified people there aren't any woman or protected minority, HR rejects all the candidates and actually looks for a person that fits this DEI standards but doesn't have the skills, knowledge and experience. So, an incompetent person gets the job, makes a mess, and someone else has to take over later.

I just don't like how so many people in the comments (not this thread) are calling her a liar when they see 4 cancellations on the board when there are over 1000 flights departing daily from Pearson. If they actually just hit a few buttons on their computer, they would see she is absolutely telling the truth. The problem with this truth is that it just isn't good enough, in my opinion.

But I think part of the reaction is also about what has become frustratingly common, people cherry picking a few points that make their case seem justified or them look good but aren't necessarily accurate overall. That board showed so many not just cancelations but also delays which were always a big part of the problems. The data I found indicated flight delays over 15 minutes are an ongoing issue with just over 60% of flights being on time or less than 15 minutes delayed. This is significantly worse than US airlines or their own pre pandemic performance. If you just listened to what she said in the snippet you'd think she was saying that the issues were pretty resolved while that board says otherwise. But I agree all the relevant facts should be shared. A full story might be while there are still problems that need working out there has also been a lot of progress.

Pearsons is the worst airport I’ve ever had the displeasure of traveling through. The layout is confusing, waits are hours long, and none of the staff know what to do either. I’ve gotten there 5 hours before my flight and almost missed it AFTER IT WAS DELAYED because of backed up security and customs lines. If you are planning a trip to Ontario, I recommend avoiding it at all costs if you aren’t staying in or near Toronto. The Ottawa airport is like a dream compared to Pearsons and I highly recommend it if you have the option to.

Lol ! I work for an airline and I can tell you this summer has been a complete disaster so far. Sure some of the delays and cancelations are weather related but a bigger percentage than ever are now caused by aircraft maintenance and especially crews either timing out or short staffed .
