Me and a buddy are looking for Colo trails to take this Sept. This looks like a fun one. Thanks for sharing.

I know a lot of people talk about Sargents (which I've not ridden) but the Taylor Reservoir area has a lot to offer, including this ride which is one of my favorites.

Thanks for the video. I live in south east CO along the I-25 corridor. I ride a KLX 300. I wouldn't mind meeting up sometime to ride a few trails with you all.

Awesome Ride! Thanks for memorializing. Perhaps due to hypoxia, I had forgotten how sketchy is the top of Mt Tilton!

Very cool rides. Going up to that region in September. What size bike seems to be best for the trails and dual sport stuff at altitude. I have the sherco 300 four stroke factory which is good in the suspension dept and the xcf 450 which is good in the power department
@singletrackscott10532 жыл бұрын
Obviously the FI bikes handle altitude better. No more jetting issues. On virtually every one of my videos, I'm on a 2015 KTM 350 XCF-W. I do not have a Rekluse because I like being involved in shifting, but I ride with guys who have a Rekluse and swear by them, and they are very good riders. I'm also a big fan of the FI 350 in terms of power, weight, and fuel economy. I can handle 100+ miles on my stock tank without any worries. There are two guys in my group who were on WRF 450s who are both now riding 350s (one switched KTM and one to a Husky). Now, all that said, I have sitting in my garage a 2022 KTM 300 XC-W that I've owned for about 4 months but have yet to ride. It's my first 2 stroke bike. I plan to take both bikes to CO this August. We'll see which one I prefer.

@@singletrackscott1053 thanks for the info The Sherco is fuel injected and fairly close to power of the 350 ktm. One guy on our trip saod he thought the sherco had a little more but we had just pulled him and his submarine out of the water crossing in arkansas. Is yours street legal? Thanks Doug

Could you share exact directions on this with me?

Basically, south. Trail numbers are included in the video. I would recommend getting a map of the area from Latitude 40. I have no affiliation with them. They just have great maps that are very durable. I've gotten to where I take pictures on my phone of the areas we intended to ride so that I can zoom in on the picture without having to get readers our. (Yep, I'm that old.)

Beautiful ride. I'm planning to go there next july. do you have any map, info, notes, contacts that you could share with me about those trails?
@singletrackscott10533 жыл бұрын
I'm a huge (uncompensated) fan of Latitude 40 maps. Very durable and easy to read. If you're thinking about riding in the Taylor Park area (Gunnison to Crested Butte to Aspen), I'd recommend getting one. Lot of great trails in that area, whether you're looking for scenic open road or single track, it's there. Been going for quite a few years now and we still find new stuff to ride.

do you think this is passable mid-June this year (2021). I am wanting to take my 500 and do some dual sporting. aspen to crested butte and back
@singletrackscott10533 жыл бұрын
A couple years ago, I was in the area over Fourth of July (great fireworks at CB) but Cement Creek wasn't yet passable so you couldn't even get to the top of Mt. Tilton. Cumberland was open but there was quite a bit of snow. Alpine Tunnel Trail was blocked below the Palisades so you couldn't even getting to Hancock Pass. Bottom line is that even early July, there's quite a bit still blocked by snow. My suggestion is to call someone up there and ask about closures due to snow.

@@jackstrawfromwitchita5978 you looking for scenery or techincal or both? Are you looking to ride from where you're staying or is trailering an option? (And I'd strongly recommend pickup up a Latitude 40 map to help with the planning.)
