I think my cattle knife is one of the best made GECs that I've had also. There isn't one gap anywhere, and not 1 single spot of rub on any blade!! That's impressive for a 3 blade knife, even for GEC. Great video

Sorry, I forgot. Either the cattle knife or my ebony Churchhill would be my favorite 35. The bone on your B&S is PHENOMENAL!!

Great video Logan. I believe the Calf Pen was also on the 35 frame. I think it came out before the Churchill.

I forgot about the calf pen. That one never really suited my fancy.

I think the wrench on the “Johnie on the Spot” knife is also used for adjusting camp stoves and lanterns?

Love this video! Please do more throwback GEC overview vids to show your collection off. The banana shield Churchill 35 is perhaps my favorite GEC knife. I am a fan of the Maher and Grosh 35's, and I have 3 of them. I also have a Northwoods Indian River Jack, which I love. I cherish them all so much that none are users except the ebony Maher and Grosh. Thanks.

Agreed - Cattle Knife is a masterpiece, I'm carrying mine today. There is a #35 with an awl - it's the first knife GEC made on the #35 frame, in 2016. Charlie Campagna had 148 made in Gabon Ebony, and Blade Forums had 346 made in Burnt Orange Worm Groove Bone. Both are called Harness Jacks on the GEC website, but while Charlie called his the "10th Harness Jack", Blade Forums called theirs the Drover. Either way, you get a main spear plus the awl, in the same single-spring configuration as the 2017 Churchill, but with an easy open notch for the awl. I have the Ebony, a great knife. Would still love that Churchill too if I could find one...

The green banana bone is a grail🔥 very hard to find. I’ve seen the yellow rose pop up for sale from time to time over the years, but never a green banana.

BtW That’s not a slam on you bro You may be one of those lucky guys snagged one at just the right moment or have a buddy who’s willing to sell them to you at a fair price The dealers I see apparently have bots that snag them all up and sell them at 3X the original price immediately afterwards hence my comment

You can if you're patient on ebay and ignore all the overpriced "buy it now" postings. Also if you add "but it now" items to your watchlist often the seller will make you an offer that you can counter for more reasonable prices.

I don't know, but I really don't think it's bots. I most of the time just buy them on drops from dealers.

@@terrillschneider3778 Unfortunately if you don't get them on a drop or have an "in" with a dealer thats the best way to get them. I've had pretty good luck thru dealers, but I just recently got into GEC's so I use ebay to try and find good deals on older patterns

I just snagged that same variant of the B&S on ebay, excited to get it in. I thought you also had a Johnny on the Spot or did you move it? Whats your thoughts on the blades being on cams instead of halfstops?
@KnifeThoughts
@KnifeThoughts Жыл бұрын
I did, but when I got this one from Charlie I got rid of it. I can't remember if I sold or traded it. I know it's like blasphemy, everyone loves half stops, but I actually like cam tangs.
@arrowheadguys7637
@arrowheadguys7637 Жыл бұрын
@@KnifeThoughts Yeah I figured with the Charlie version you probably moved it, I just remember watching that video before getting mine. Ha, its all preference. I do prefer half stops, I still enjoy the cam knives but theres always that slight nagging feeling of remorse the first time I open it and it doesn't pop to its 2nd position.

I picked up two GEC’s in 2017 or 2018. Didn’t know much about them. They were easy to get and affordable. Traditional’s just don’t strike my fancy now as they did I when I was a child so I just put them away. Started looking on line at them recently…. Christ I wish I would have bought a hundred of them after seeing secondary on just the two I have. Ridiculous.

You'd have to look on the secondary market now. Either a Facebook group, forum, or eBay (in that order)
