hi mike, super finds once again, it amazes me how those 78s are in such pristine condition for the most part! love seeing those beautiful records and labels, that torch 78 was a beauty for sure! i have that story tellers 45 but mine is on the dimension label, i think you have the first pressing of it though, the lps were very nice as well and a good variety of them, i think th9ose budget labels like crown, coronet and diplomat are always fun to pick up, not so much for the content but for the cover art as well, some of them were really cool looking. thanks for sharing another great estate sale finds video, always a delight! take care, rob

FYI, One common 78 to look out for: It's Been A Long, Long Time by Harry James 1945 Common but still worth $50-$100 because it was used in a recent movie.

I know about that one. I have a copy, but it's not in great condition. It was in Avengers Endgame.

I don’t know anything about that TORCH 78 but it looks like an unknown treasure to me that could have potential high value. As for the lesser desirable 78s you have mentioned (Bing Crosby, Doris Day ect.) I’m sure there will be someone out there who will intererested in them, well at least I would rather that than these records end up in landfill or used in de-liquiidfied form for antique furniture. Thanks again Mike.

The Torch 78 will go in my collection. Might try to sell the common 78s as a lot. Many are in excellent condition.

Might be tough to pin down a value. It's a great record though.

I was doing mostly car stuff while I was there. I did hit a couple of thrifts, but didn't get anything great.

I didn't know "Heavenly Father" was written and performed by Edna McGriff (back in 1952 and released on a Jubilee 78 no less). I just learned something!🙂

The reason why there's so many Doris Day, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Tony Bennett, etc etc, 78's floating around today, is because they were, at one time, very popular performers and everyone was buying their records back then. I mean, nobody was buying Edna McGriff records by thousands back in 1952-53, sorry, but they weren't. I have that same McGriff, R & B, 78 rpm and today there's not a huge clammer for a copy of it and hell, I really like the tune, "Heavenly Father". Scarcity promotes high dollar amounts, not necessarily the quality of the music on the shellac itself. Availability + large quantities, does lower values, while scarcity seems to raise it. Today, people equate high dollar amounts and high value with music quality and musicianship, but it's just a misconception. Scarcity doesn't make it better music. Lol. I buy Doris Day 78's, especially if she's singing with the Les Brown Orchestra and yes, I have plenty of Crosby on Decca and Bennett on Columbia too. If I find good copies of pop records, Big Band records, C & W records, R & B records, and yes, Rock N' Roll records.... I buy them. I like music and I hear something great in most of the older music. Someone will want those Crosby, Day, Como, etc, 78 rpm records and will value them, just as you might value, say, some obscure Clovers or Drifters record. There's a buyer for everything.

Man. Not showing Doris Day. So disappointed. Lol

@harryriles86092 жыл бұрын
Who do you give them away to. Usually when I try to give mine away, nobody wants them. So I give them to Goodwill, and they probably throw them out?
@MikeFindsThings2 жыл бұрын
@@harryriles8609 The thrifts don't usually want them since they break easily and the shards are a hazard. Plus they're usually hard to sell. I'm guessing many get thrown out through thrift donations.
