To the amateur it may go unnoticed but after being a player for thirty years and nowhere near as good as this guy, i noticed how he not only played these pieces but became the players themselves! He got everything so spot on from the vibratos to the pick attack, even knoflers finger picking! These are things that make good guitar players into great guitar players.

When I started learning almost three years ago Comfortably Numb solo was one of my goals. Just when I was starting to think I was playing it fairly well I watched this video and I've realised how bad my version is. The video has given me some ideas on areas for improvement though.

theultimatexperience Well its ok if your not big into pink floyd, but the solos in comfortably numb are awesome because of the amount of emotion david gilmour puts into each note, instead of playing 3000 notes per second. Oh and I would recommend listening to full albums instead of listening to single songs by pink floyd. A lot of there songs end up leading into other songs. Wish you were here and dark side of the moon are two albums I would listen to from start to finish.

I literally do not even have words. I'm just speechless. Sir you are such a phenomenal musician in your own right. But as someone else said in this comment section, you not only played things perfectly, but you really channeled each guitarist. All of that would have been amazing in itself, but your choice of songs, and then the way you transitioned from one song to the other., the modified ending to the hotel california solo so that it went right into Sultans of swing.... the video editing. Everything... just literally EVERYTHING was perfect and more than that. Everything touched my soul. I'm not kidding, I dang near cried during some of those solos. You have a gift my friend. Of course, at my age, I remember every one of those pieces. Most I learned back in the day. Maybe my ears are just getting old and wonky, but damn it all, you actually played each and every one better than how I remember them being played by the original artists -- better technique and certainly much better feeling. Just astoundingly wonderful. I know I'll probably get clobbered for saying that, but the fact is: it is true. You are an astonishingly superior guitarist. And thank you for making this video for all of us -- all of us who remember.

That was very nice ! Mark Knofler is hard to play for many - if they try to play like he did - he played all his stuff with no pick at all ! Great job there. That Stairway to Heaven solo is one of the most incredible solos of all time ! Europa was awesome ! In 1980, when Led Zeppelin was on their last tour ever in Europe - Carlos Santana gave them a shout out right before he played "Europa" at his show ! Love that song.

Excellent playing and performance of the solos with additional credit for coming really close to their original sounds, at least for some of them. On a personal note, I love of all the songs and guitarists that played those iconic solos but Mark Knopfler is the the absolute electric guitar god in my book.

I am almost speechless. Fantastic tones and voices, great guitars, stellar playing. I am 61 years old and have been playing guitar since about grade 5. This was the music I grew up into, and have seen so many others including myself, try to emulate but I have never seen any as good as you have demonstrated. You have good strong hands, long fingers, a great ear and much talent. I've been casually playing twice as long as you may have even been around but I pale in comparison to you. I hope your talent leads you to fulfillment and satisfaction. Good operation of recording/editing/video as well!! A+++++

I've heard a few dozen half-decent versions of the Stairway To Heaven solo over the years, mostly mechanical and technical but I actually like your take on it. It's got some soul and accents of your own voice. You also destroyed it with Freebird. Comfortably Numb. Damn dude. I don't know what you're channeling, but I can feel the pain.
