Interesting rule about this battle: The attackers were only allowed to move 10 of their units at the start and i think the rest after like 10 or 15 minutes. If paladinbob makes a scenario you have to expect crazy rules :D

Putting a rule in place that if the attackers lose more than 75 or 80% of their troops they lose. I know that sounds weird but at that point the attacking army would just break in historical case, in medieval era sometimes you only had to lose 30% of your troops for your army to break. That also would balance the siege battles way better in my opinion. Thank you for all the amazing videos and keep on posting because I'll keep in watching.

Okay here me out on this. But for a custom scenario, imagine a force of 3,000 Men, Elves, Dwarves, and even Orcs against...10,000 Hobbits. No seriously, that would be interesting to see how that played out. Could have a little parody backstory of Hobbits being evil all along or Frodo being corrupted by the Ring and now every other race in Middle Earth is making their last stand against never ending tides of cheap infantry. Would the combined arms of the best units in Third Age Total War combined be enough to beat the sheer numbers?

I think the scenario makers just hate defenders or something, there are a lot of reasons why Gondor/Dol Amroth lost this scenario I mean.... Gondor Militia.... Really? Anyone that plays Divide and Conquer on the Dol Amroth Campaign knows that you must destroy Umbar before they reach their Late period and get all those Really Good Heavy Infantry.... and you gave Gondor.... Militia??? Even the Talon/Dismounted Swan Knights has trouble killing Umbar Heavy inf and you gave them Militia in a 3v4? Trebuchets are also innacurate af, Look at how many shots they missed! and adding to that they made it so that Gondor needs to run their forces back to their defence points.... wtf? if its a 4v4 or Gondor is 100% Elite Troops that would be fine but these are mostly crap units and it's a 3v4 to add to that Gondor even has less troops in 1 army, they lost Swan Knights to Corsair Raiders.... wtf? too many archers for the Umbarians aswell aaand Javelins too? even most of the Haven Guards just died from charges doing jack shit and the ones who retreated already lost considerable stamina, reducing their effectiveness.... Come on Apollo, even you have to admit this! The defenders has been on a losing streak like what? in 2 whole weeks now! #Defendersneverwin #Scenariomakershatesdefenders #Antidefenderconspiracy

A few points. What does this scenario have to do with the campaign? It's just an unexpected raid scenario, it's fun. And the militia is present to represent the people of Dol Amroth defending their city in case of an attack. The unexpected attack is the reason why some of them had to rush back to their keep because they were surprised, simple as that. And the main reason defenders have a hard time winning is the fact that we have to concentrate on so many parts of the battle with our troops scattered around the place. And i see you complaining on 90% of the Third Age battles. If you don't enjoy them, don't watch them.....

Son of Imladris Problem is, I do enjoy them, and so far I have held back on the complaints simply because most of the Reforged scenarios are actually well balanced like the Thranduil defense ones since I saw it from different persepectives and actually see both outcomes being done both on this and Indypride's channel, The campaign was only a statement made to say that Umbar's Heavy inf is really good, they're so good that campaign players do not want to ever meet them in battle, even The creators of Divide and Conquer themselves suggested this strategy to people who plays you can even see this in Arachir's (The head of DaC) Dol Amroth Campaign video where he expressively said "If you meet those Heavy Infantry you're in for a hard time" Now I know those militia were there to represent and that's fine, but couldn't PaladinBob give some more Mid to Elite tier troops? I mean we can see in the video that there were still space for them in the army coms, It's a scenario yeah I get that but you played it, you had your share of fun in it, people who just watched it don't get the same excitement of playing it, we just watch helplessly as that damn Balance of power shows 77% attackers killed vs 87% Defenders killed, I want to see someone actually winning this scenario then I would be convinced that it's balanced, and you lost Swan knights to Corsair Raiders aswell a Heavy Cav Elite unit killed by militia level Light Infantry surely you can understand people cringing at that, now I still enjoyed the video and that last push was epic but it could be more balanced and if the makers don't want it too it's fine.

Son of Imladris also forgot to mentiom that you needed to concentrate on a lot of parts of that battle hence why you lost a number of Swan Knights to Corsair Raiders, but really those Umbar Heavy Infantry is a bit overkill, Now I have played my fair share of DaC and even Fountain Guards and Black Numenoreans have trouble dealing with those guys and those 2 are the best infantry unit in the game, that's saying something about how good they are, I'm glad they're good though because without them Umbar would be a faction full of units getting massacred by archers and just about anything

The defenders would have won this if they had guarded the one choke point with the wardens, then brought the two catapults they lost up the hill before the last stand started. They sold this match; they could have taken out hundreds with those catapults and protected the wardens from the heavy javelin fire.

48:30 I face palmed... I know there's lots of micro but that is a mistake that can cost a battle. The gate could and should have been held till the catapult was clear. It was a top priority and the gate wasn't even at risk of flanking for another 1-2 minutes. Also awful placement of the Tirith Aer Warden elites... Son of Imladris must have had an off day....! I think a little more agression early on vs the corsairs and a bit smarter defence and this could have easily been a win. Clearly requires intense micro from all defenders though! That last stand though... cor that was EPIC. The counter push man... I really like the way they removed that building so the defenders can't huddle in the town centre. Still they could have defended that other chokepoint with 1-2 units and a catapult and put the rest at the centre. All in all an amazing watch though :D #defendersneverwin
