Now you open a totally new topic about wine. How do you pair wines with dogs to amplify the enjoyment you have with your best friend? Which wine goes with a "poodle" and which one is a better match with a "German Shepherd". Just never blame the dog if you have a hang over.

I've had Il Greppo Riserva Biondi Santi and it's a magical wine. Only approachable after 20 years in bottle. Few of us have time and money on our hands. Good recommendations for affordability!

I really love Brunello wines. I would not say it is the best Brunello I have ever tasted, but Campogiovanni from San Felice is somewhat special for me. I used to be an ordinary guy who purchases wines only from supermarket time to time and consume within a month. But I had a chance to keep Campogiovanni BdM for an extra few years and opened it when my friends visited in New Year's Eve - it was a blast!! I first experienced how the wine evolves in the bottle and I will never forget the moment 😌😌 (btw, I love La Magia as well. I think it is one of the few gems left in affordable price tag compare to the other BdMs).
@NoSediment
@NoSediment Жыл бұрын
Campogiovanni I also do enjoy, it is well respected producer. If I am not mistaken his grapes are mostly sourced from hotter part of the Montalcino, therefore I have found that in recent years I prefer cooler vintages. ✨ Also La Magia -> great wine! 💯

Hello Agnes, First of all thanks for sharing your passion. I'm a big fan of Brunello di Montalcino and I totally agree with your selection. "La Magia" is amazing, and Il Poggione" has consistent quality. Can I suggest you to try, if it's not already done : Lisini ( very classic style) La Rasina ( very modern style) and Albatreti ( very confidential) but the BEST for my taste.... See you soon in an other video ... PS: Love your dog, it's so cute....😉 Didier

I like Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona but if I am going for Sangiovese, it’s usually Chianti Classico and if I can find one, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. They may not be 100% Sangiovese but they are excellent and affordable options that can age well.

Do you find the markups of riservas worth it or do you think they are overoaked and overpriced?
@NoSediment
@NoSediment 11 ай бұрын
It depends on the producer. 😅 Brunello di Montalcino Riservas have one of the longest ageing requirements, and I think because of that some wines tend to loose fruit, by the time they are in the shelfs 😢😢😢 But overall, if the quality (fruit concentration) is there and it might not be every year, these wines are really worth it. Yes, I think that for Riservas it really depends on the quality of vintage as well! 🤔

Both great producers (even legendary) -> 2015 is quite warm vintage (hot even) and I would probably open it sooner than 2016. But from these producers: 10-15 years, or even all 20 would be all good. 2016 is amazing vintage, definitely offering more freshness than 2015. That should hold for long. Great wines You have, no doubt! 🙌🍷 Cheers!

Ive had Rosso di montalcino a few times and it always seems very light and not as complex as a brunello. Am I the only one who feels this way?
@NoSediment
@NoSediment 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, You are totally right. I guess I didn’t elaborate that in the video. It is usually quite light and fruit forward red wine. And only from the top producers and from declassified Brunello fruit can one expect wine closer in style to Brunello.

Would you say that most Brunello's can be enjoyed from purchase ? or is it best to check with a wine vintage drinking guide( e.g. Robert Parkers) for the best year to start drinking from ?
@NoSediment
@NoSediment 2 жыл бұрын
This might be unpopular opinion, but I truly believe that most of wines can be drunk after their release. It is matter of what kind of style each enjoys. Fresh, rich and bold or already showing tertiary aromas, maybe even less fruit? And a great wine will be drinking nicely at its release and also later. It is never, that wine is undrinkable now, yet it would develop into something great with age. 😳 Sorry for the long answer. 🤷‍♂️

Casanova di Neri has been highly awarded by international guides for 20 years, in fact in this period it has tripled the price of its 4 Brunellos, from the base to the Cerretalto reserve, but are you sure that these wines are 100% Sangiovese? We should forget the guides and taste them personally.
@NoSediment
@NoSediment 2 жыл бұрын
Casanova di Neri is a beautiful producer, I agree! 🍷 I am sure Brunello must be made from 100% Sangiovese, by law!😉 However, there have been incidents in the past, when some highly scored wines (Brunellos) turned out to be spiced up with other grapes. 🤷‍♂️ I doubt top producers do that nowadays. 😬

2015 was a hot vintage, and that means elevated (sometimes out of balance) alcohol. I checked for You - La Magia vineyards are facing south east, however at the elevation of 400-450m which provides some cooling effects. I think of La Magia as a great producer and even though I have not tasted 2015 vintage, I would guess it should be drinking nicely now and after some 8-10 years. 😉
