Back in the day we had a White 9000 with a 220 Cummins that was juiced up quite a bit. Single axle and bobtail it was a quick truck for the time. It would break the tires loose no problem but wheel hop like crazy and drop the drive shaft

Back around 1990 or so the company I was driving for practiced "slipseating". They were '89-90 (91?) short wheel base, spring ride suspension, governed to no faster than 62 mph, straight 9 speed, cabovers that most likely a result of the "slipseating"(for those who are not familiar, "slipseating"means that a driver never gets the same truck. I've came in for a few days off after being out for 3 weeks and a driver was waiting for my truck. I tossed my stuff out of one door as he was tossing his stuff through the other. Never turned the truck off.) as I was saying, it may have been a reason they were so trashed. Anyway, going up I-81 in Virginia when I'd get to the top of one of those high hills south of Roanoke I would sometimes leave it in 4th or 5th gear and coast down with the clutch in til I hit 85 or there about then dump the clutch. IT WOULD NOT BREAK. That little 300hp Cummins never gave in, or the clutch, or the rearend. Yep, that was me, young, bitter and yes, quite stupid

Great camera work. Love seeing truck roll coal. I noticed the drag strip had new asphalt. Was it purpose built for this event or are going to have regular drag races for cars too? They could have ran a sweeper the next day to cut down on the dust and better traction.

Great video .... Im from Québec and this kind of race is very popular here. The silver western star is Jacques Lafleur and is wife Ginette... Jacques i throw at you good vibe! I hope you doing ok ... Jaques cant live whitout race and this winter he have a big accident. He slip from is truck and fall on his head. Is one of the best driver of the tour. @Diving Duck I dont know. I see a lot of logging trucks here in BC with at least equivalent loads and three axles..... those axles towards the front of the trailer will hinder turning and take weight off the drive wheels. Seems less than ideal.
