@@GuadalupePicasso I agree. When watching those elephant sanctuary videos, they really are better when hearing all of the weird and interesting sounds the phants are making, I don't want it drowned out by music. Don't get me wrong, I love music. But If I want to hear music, I'll watch a KZbin video that's specifically for music, not for a non-music related topic which has music playing over it

@Ronald Mcdonald Yeah, I've seen, that approach many times. It's the set up for that approach I hadn't seen before; coming in over LGA and across Manhattan at Central Park, then a left turn over the Hudson. Great close up views of the city.

To avoid conflict with Kennedy and Newark, the approach to LaGuardia often amounts to a descending spiral over the city and a final base turn that is much like landing on an aircraft carrier! For that reason pilots sometimes call the airport the USS LaGuardia :) In this example you can see Citi Field and the tennis complex at the very beginning and then again at the end - first from about 5,000 feet and then from a few hundred feet on final approach. Really fantastic!! So many famous landmarks are visible!

@, we didn't circle all the way around Manhattan like this when I was on a flight approaching LGA, but that was also back in 1998. I remember us decending towards Manhattan while heading northbound, first over Staten island, then got a good view of the Statue of liberty, then over the lower East river seeing the banks of lower Manhattan (got a good look at the still existing twin towers), then over the Brooklyn bridge while merging northeast and then seeing the East river, Roosevelt island, and a good view of the Manhattan Midtown skyline while over Queens, and then the last part of the descent was quite similar to this video, I recall. Made a sharp left and saw Flushing Meadows, the World's fair, and the stadium. We didn't do the full circle over Manhattan like in this video, kind of wish we did.

Right it is. They also have helicopter rides circling around Manhattan for tourists. The heliport is on the East river in Lower Manhattan (I'm explaining this, of course, to non-native New Yorkers who may not already know). I just think that there's no point in wasting your money on the helicopter if you got a window seat while circling Manhattan upon landing. Sometimes with heavy traffic backup, you may circle more than once.

I've flown into Lagaurdia one time and the only time I visited NYC. I've been to some big cities in the US, but they didn't prepare me for just how big NYC is. Even the buildings that appear small are 20+ stories. It simply is a massive city and every American should visit it at least once in their lives.

I'm from Toronto where our approach to Pearson International is pretty much 6 to 8 minutes on the downwind parallel to the airport and corresponding runway, then the base, then about 3 to 4 minutes on final approach. The approach to LGA seems all over the place lol. The final approach seemed to be so short..lol...It was hard for me to tell.

This approach is called Runway 31 Expressway visual. The left tun at the stadiums is where the fun starts. Beautiful indeed. This must have been a DC9, or B717. Distance between wing and engine is too short to be an MD80, but for the quiet engines, my money is on B717. Yes, the people on the right side missed out, except for the trip down the Hudson river. NJ on one side and NYC on the other. Great memories.

I fly into LaGuardia too much so I am familiar with that approach. That is the Expressway Visual Approach to RWY 31. But to get the grand tour of Manhattan the flight usually needs to be coming from the North or Northeast to enter the pattern that way. If you are coming from the South or West, you still get a good view of Manhattan, just not the grand tour. There was an approach from the South that used to take you up the Hudson river, North of the GWB and then circle to land RWY22, but they don't seem to fly that approach as much anymore. That approach was even more breathtaking.

It's exciting there. I'm not a NY native, but I've known and talked to different native New Yorkers, had a NY girlfriend at one time, and I've been there (even though it was years ago (and I won't ever forget how good the food is there). And my dad had been there much more recently. This is what I know: you won't get bored in NY, there are endless attractions and fun things to do. And yes, NY does have some of the best food in the world; notably their jewish delicatessens, Greek food, their pizza, and their pasta Italain restaurants (large Italain American population in NY). But, you'll need money, Manhattan is expensive, particularly if you want to stay in a decent hotel and try some of their good food that I mentioned above. And there are alot of bustling crowds sometimes, sometimes shoving. Crime isn't as bad in NY as it once was, but it's still not advisable to go to Central park after dark, or to wander into alleys.

I just went 3 months ago and it is amazing the best time to go is during thanksgiving for Macy's Thanksgiving parade, Christmas for light shows on the side of a building at Rockefeller Center, and new years eve for new years eve ball drop and be advised at least over 200,000 people go there to time square 42nd street. have fun!

That is Arthur Ashe Stadium, the primary tennis stadium at the Billie King National Tennis Center, home of the US Open. The stadium next to it is the #2 stadium in the complex.

Around 0:20 they are flying over LaGuardia, just across Flushing Bay from Citi Field, which are both visible. Then that amazing loop around Manhattan, ending up basically where the video started - what a great ride!

All of Manhattan is only about 14 miles long, and (I think) about 1.5 miles at its widest point - 14th Street. Manhattan is the smallest (by far) of the five boroughs!
