Yes, we are very pleased with the performance of the engines! They do sip a little oil, but we keep it clean for them.

great ... exiting, i would like to know what year the boat is this ,and how much fuel need from florida keys to bahamas ... how much fuel capacity . i am new in the field i would lke to know more..... thanks for this fantastic video. also which boat is better in your openion for long trip i mean not an expensive boat.
@CruisingSonchaser4 ай бұрын
@@jensonmarugan6000 thanks! The boat is a 1991 Jefferson Rivanna cockpit motor yacht with twin Caterpillar 3208 diesels. We use about a gallon a mile. So from Key West we went up to Key Largo and that was about 80 miles I think (I don’t have my log in front of me LOL and then from Key Largo to Bimini Bahamas was about 75 miles. Get a good heavy boat with good diesel motors like a Hatteras and you’ll be fine.

We are doing well. When we got to the Bahamas, after a short time we had a family emergency in the states, had to cruise to an airport and head to Florida to help. We then went back to the boat on Grand Bahama for a while, then headed up the east coast to safely wait out hurricane season. Now we are prepping to head back to Key West for the winter/spring. I expect to get a new video out this week! Thanks for asking!

We are just about to get our Bahamas video out and then up the east coast of FL to Brunswick, GA behind Jekyll and St Simons. Thanks for asking!

I have a friend that is sailing from Connecticut to Florida and was going to help him out. Was hoping to fly into Virginia. Do you know if Norfolk would be a good place to be picked up with a sail boat that has s 5 foot keel. TIA for any help or advice
@CruisingSonchaserАй бұрын
@@rachelmcneal3639 you could do that yes. Norfolk handles huge naval ships. There’s a few excellent marinas there. Easy airport too.

Where are you now?
@CruisingSonchaser3 ай бұрын
We are behind Jekyll Island on the Georgia coast, near St. Simons Island at Brunswick Landing Marina. It's a fantastic marina.We are going to head back south and do Key West and the Bahamas again this winter and spring. Lisa could not get enough of it this year so we thought, why not do it all over again, but take in more islands and anchorages. We had a medical emergency back home and had to dock in Freeport on Grand Bahamas and fly back for a while, so the cruising got cut shorter than we would have liked. Let us know when you come down the coast. We will likely leave here January/February depending on weather and head straight back to Key West.

I'm new to this, what is the "rule" or "regulation" about zip tying black water seacocks ?
@CruisingSonchaserАй бұрын
The FLorida Fish and Wildlife want your seacocks zip tied closed so that you won’t discharge waste in their waters.
@flister98Ай бұрын
Is that just a Florida rule, or more/every state?

What make and model of boat do you have?

We have a Jefferson Rivanna cockpit motor yacht. It's a 48 so its LOA is 53 ft, 16.3 beam. Twin Caterpillar 3208TA's. An oldie but goodie. We have a video that gives a tour from a couple of years ago. Here it is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2GpdKSLd7yiqsksi=DuVHPBFxO48556AR
