Great Loop Cruising Info: Leg 29-Great Kills, NY to Liberty Landing, NJ

This leg of the Great Loop takes the crew of The Perch from Great Kills Harbor in Staten Island through New York Harbor, past the Statue of Liberty, and (after a side trip to Bayonne explained in the video) on to AGLCA sponsor Liberty Landing Marina. It's a milestone for Looper boats to reach New York city and get a photo in front of the Statue of Liberty. The view of Statue and lower Manhattan from the waterway are unforgettable moments on the Great Loop!

Nice Video Thanks for sharing! Did you stay at Elco Marina there in the harbor? We stayed there in 2018. As much as I loved seeing the intensity of a really large container harbor and the skills the pilots and the tug captains have, it was a rough night when the Tugs were challenging each other on the 1/4 mile dragstrip. However,. staying a night there and get to see that sight is worth some shaking. Need some careful thinking on how to run the dock lines and be sure everything is stowed... Not sure if you seen the movie Interstellar? The scene at Millers Planet was probably recorded at Elco.

Yes, it was Elco Marina. I've seen the movie but don't remember that scene. Now I'll have to go back and look!

We were just very thankful that the other Looper boat took some video for us. Horizontal would have been nice, but none of us are professional videographers.
