What an impressive celebration that was! I've enjoyed watching it a number of times. What beautiful and clear traditions the Workers Party of Korea and the Korean People have maintained in the face of truly monstrous and vile FASCIST AND COLONIALIST AGGRESSION from US and European Monopoly-Capitalist Elites. It is NOT hyperbole to say that there is no crime the Colonialists have not morally bottomed-out in committing against the Peoples of Korea and the US while attempting to erode and destroy the sovereignty of DPR Korea and its Socialism. I sincerely hope that the Workers Party of Korea adjusts away from pursuing a policy of detente with FASCISTS and COLONIALISTS in the Trump Administration who absolutely refuse to take it seriously; CLEANS the CIA and Pentagon TRASH out of its Party, Intelligence Institutions, and KFA with an entirely appropriate and justified, Reason-Based, Evidence-Based purge; and returns to a vocal and public policy of principled and militant opposition to US Monopoly Capitalism, Colonialism, and Fascism. Most people in the US have only been seeing Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and FASCIST CRIMINAL Donald Trump hugging and writing warm and tender letters to one another and don't understand DPR Korea's decades of principled opposition and sacrifice in its struggle to overthrow the Imperialist and Colonialist system world-wide. I wasn't around for the efforts toward detente by Kim Il Sung that involved Jimmy Carter, but I do remember some of his last words about Jimmy Carter's promises and how he evaluated the sincerity of such commitments, and doubt that Kim Il Sung would have welcomed a truly disgusting FASCIST and COLONIALIST like Donald Trump into DPR Korea, or that he would have been so warm and tender toward him in his letters. Those blunders cannot be justified with reference to Kim Il Sung's broadminded political approach. I sincerely hope that the appropriate leadership changes are made in the Party and State while continuing to pursue Songun Politics and the Marxist-Leninist Juche Worldview and Political System, so that DPR Korea can be the world center of a genuine Marxist-Leninist Renaissance of Kim-Il-Sungism that makes a real, positive, and lasting impact on all Communist and Workers Parties and is constant beacon for finally accomplishing the much needed Revolutionary-Democratic changes in the US that can bring an actual end to the UNNECESSARY and CRIMINAL US hostility to DPR Korea.

3.1절 100주년 기념식이라 광화문광장에 어제 다녀왔는데 랩공연을 하는 걸 보고 실망했다. 북한처럼 이런 찬양은 아니더라도 역사성과 민족성을 보여줄 수 있는 뮤지컬 형식의 축하공연을 하기를 바랬다. 외세에 대항해 민족자존의 심정으로 태극기 하나만 들고 만세운동을 했던 3.1절을 기념하는, 그것도 100주년 축하공연에 국적불명의 랩을 써서 공연의 질을 떨어뜨리는 발상을 한건 도대체 누구의 머리에서 나온 거냐. 한국은 랩과 영어가사로 도배된 겉멋만 든 영혼없는 음악과 상업성만을 노린 댄스음악이 주류가 되버렸다. 메시지는 없고 요란한 춤과 의상이 노래의 전부다. 3: 20: 40분에 나오는 노래 정말 좋다. 힘차고 밝고 희망적인 노래, 예전엔 아름다운 강산등 이런 가요도 있었지만 요즘 한국은 이런 식의 노래는 안나온다. 하얀색 저고리에 검은 치마를 입고 민족적인 노래를 부르는 북한과 미국이나 영국 국기를 디자인한 옷을 입고 노래를 부르는 한국아이돌의 차이는 어디서부터 벌어졌을까. 38:50 에서 미국의 공습을 당했던 북한의 아픈 역사를 알수 있었다. 평양공습으로 굴뚝만 남고 벽돌한장 안남고 모든 건물이 다 파괴됐었단 얘기를 듣고 가슴이 아팠다. 우리에겐 구세주였겠지만 같은 민족인 북한에겐 미국은 그야말로 지옥에서 올라온 사자였고 그 사자에 대항하러 고군분투했던 북한인들의 노력을 보면 정말 안쓰럽고 굶더라도 핵을 완성한 그들의 인내심과 끈기를 보면 대단하고 빨리 통일이 되었으면 한다.

I am one of the few people who have watched the whole performance and it's not surprising as it's a really long video. However I can say that what moves me most about this is the respect in which they treat old artists. Many are really old and there is a significant chance that this will be their last significant performance. They are given prominence for their deeds to propagate the revolution and to better the life of the people even being in the foremost row of the final part of the performance where they are given flowers. This stands in total contrast with the despicable way old artists are treated in the west and in capitalist societies in general. For their whole life they have to subject their art to commercialization if they are to make a living and in the end they are degraded by society and the capitalist media for the physical and mental degeneration that often comes with old age. The DPRK remains a shining example that a better society, a better world is possible. As a Greek song goes: "Victims and suckers if you wake up the world will come upside down". EDIT: Wow, I just now have realized that they used the same song for the intro (3:02) where the young dancers come in and the outro (3:18:17) where the old artists bid farewell, I can't help but to suspect that this was intentional, as in new artists full of ambition and eagerness to brightly paint the life of the people come in and old, glorified and beloved artists come out, having fulfilled their cause of serving the revolution bringing the civilizing light of art to the people. The subtle differences in the intro and outro versions of the song are also genius. Artists are the engineers of the human soul and will always be held in high regard in socialism.
