China has 996 work culture. Their kids go to school from 9-5 then cram school after that 6 days a week. Some hard working, disciplined people. In the US, we have become lazy and soft (myself included) and the thought of 996 work culture would probably not fly here. So yeah, we probably would have hard time becoming self sufficient. But who knows, I just think most of us are too pampered to work that hard.

This dialogue is very one-sided. The reality is that countries are now more free to trade and compete without US and Western coercion to accept neo-colonialism in our world. There are now alternatives to US hegemony! China does not pose an existential threat to any country. The US does continue to pose existential threats to many countries that have stood up for themselves and their own national interests. The changing world is moving toward a multipolar, multilateral world system. Initially, this change is seen as being bi-polar because China has become the biggest national economy. As we progress the alternatives that China presents will allow the rest of the world to grow more freely. The discussions on the issues of democracy are hogwash!! China´s governmental system has done far more for its population than our neo-liberal system that creates inequality and poverty!! This is full of "old" thinking. My thought on currency and destabilizing nations is that the current central bank and government-controlled fiat currency represents the greatest de-stabilizing force. Nations can't continue to spend more than they take in without adverse consequences. Bitcoin seems to be a hopeful development that takes away discretionary control from any nation-state by introducing algorithmic discipline upon governments. I'm more hopeful about the future because of Bitcoin. We need new leaders that embrace the idea if fiscal discipline. If people actually had to pay for continuous war, they would elect NOT to have war. If governments were forced to live within rational fiscal constraints we would all be better off in the mid-long term.
