Yes, it is human food. You can boil it whole, peel it and eat it plain. You can peel it, dice it, bring to a boil x 3 to 4 min. Place it in a glass jar, add pickle vinegar (you can add salt, pepper chillie flakes, sugar, to taste). When they are extra ripe, you can boil them, cut in half empty the shells, take the seed out (seeds are delicious by themselves), make a puree, add melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, crumbled vanilla cookies. Refill the shells and bake, delicious!
