My wife and I (from Oklahoma) were camping at Sandy Flat Campground the night before this run and were driving down to Bakersfield when we saw these awesome rapids and then saw three kayakers going down. We pulled off and started videoing on my iPhone, then followed them (or tried to get ahead of them) to take more videos. One gentleman was also following them so I remarked to him that I don't see this every day and wondered how difficult these rapids were (me fascinated, but not knowing the lingo, etc). He replied that these were some of the stoutest rapids out there and that the kayaker in the front in the pink was Dane Jackson, the world's best kayaker. I guess he was part of their crew. Wow! Dane, if you see this post and want those videos, you're welcome to have them. They're not high quality and close up, but I'm happy I just happened to take them. Take care.

I look at that water and all I see is pain and regret. Dane looks at that water and sees the lines, points them out, then proceeds to make it look easy. I never get tired of watching him run rivers.
