The bass does roll off, and I measured it. It can not be restored with the eq knob as you're still left with a mid bass dip. Its because their tone knobs dont have tone bypass, so they're always affecting the sound.

the microphone is what really sets it apart from other DACs

What sets it apart is that it's one of the only PC DACs with a Mic input.

Old model for Fosi. I believe the SK02 is it's successor.

This Fosi K5 is a gaming DAC/Headphone Amp. The Fosi SK02 replaced the Fosi SK01 which are desktop DAC/Headphone Amp

@@nathanberger618 o right, no mic input but if you don't talk it would be a better option.

@@nathanberger618 I don't think it is a replacing model. SK01 is a dedicated headphone amp with tone controls, but no DAC stage, only analog input. They are distinct products within the series.

Hey, i have a problem with it. When i plug in my mic (Fifine K688), my IEMs start to have this little stuttering noise and when i join a Discord call my mic sounds muffled and very far away. Do you have a fix for that?

Why don't they make 3.5 balanced
@lawrencewang33278 ай бұрын
2 pole connection makes it physically impossible. Balanced only provides more gain when it comes to outputs and doesn't result in any quality difference. If anything, when poorly implemented on a mismatching output device it can introduce distortion. Only seek balanced if you have low sensitivity stuff.

The 3.5 mm audio jack has, without microphone input, 3 conductive sections. If you look at the jack you will see metal separated by black inset rings. The first part is the left channel, the second is the right channel and the last longest is the ground for proper electrical circuit connection. A 4.4 mm has 5 electrical connections, 2 for left ( +,-), two for right (+,-) and then ground. 3.5 simply doesn’t have enough electrical connections for balanced input. So why not just make a 3.5 with 5 connections? This would lead to confusion as to whether you have a 3.5 unbalanced or balanced connector on your headphones and/or a 3.5 balanced or unbalanced on your source. Why make a new confusing “3.5 balanced” plug type when it’s much more clear to make a totally separate 4.4 Pentacon (5 connector) and then make that a new standard for audiophile connections? You already have to redesign the input and output. Might as well make it clear to every consumer.

@@joshuav4965 Thank you for the detailed and helpful response, I appreciate it This is rare because I remember that there is a ready-made device that has a balanced 3.5. There is also an IEM that has a variable 4.4 and 3.5, but both of them are quadrilateral. Honestly, I don’t know if I am delusional.

@@lawrencewang3327 Thank you for the response and information Now most devices have 6.3, which is converted to an unbalanced 3.5 socket. Do you know how much power this unbalanced one can give VRMS power, or it gives the same power as VRM, but its power is a milliwatt more?

@@joshuav4965 Thank you for the detailed response and the answer, I appreciate it There is an IEM that comes with a wire that can be changed from 4.4 to 3.5, and both are quad-pin, and I remember that there is a DAC AMP that has 3.5 balanced.
