Yes, winning games is the best way to attract top recruits. Last year s record did hurt absolutely. Miami s NIL appears strong despite some Cane naysayers.The unlimited amount of visits is crazy. Franklin visited 6 times but didnt offer him his hometown feel obviously. In today s college recruiting world, it s even more difficult to gain a competitive edge unless you have a consistent winning program.

We will make it up with some wins, an explosive offense, and a swarming Defense, when miami is good there is no chance for the rest of ncaa. Problem with that is ncaa and other programs no that so they will do what ever they can to take us down.

Agreed! However, if all indications are true, NIL is going to be the future for college football. So much so that I’m hearing that congress is getting involved to pass laws that will prevent the NCAA from giving program’s penalties or punishment for giving these players money. In other words, the NCAA will soon have no say so when it comes to programs wanting to flat out pay kids to come play for them. So soon, these kids will be pay for hire; just like the NFL. Some states like, Texas, Mississippi, etc. are already seeing the benefits of these new legislatures. Programs with the most money will become the new power football programs.

Interesting Stat: Last season we had a winning record on the road! 3-2! & the losses were very competitive to the end. Exception Clemson…but we did show slight improvement…& thus far it looks like we’re ready to elevate our game a couple more notches! 🙌

Oregon had the best Oline in the nation last year. That was a product of Mario and Mirabal

I’m more worried about the defensive line. We’re a bit undersized. I fear that we’re going to really struggle against the run.

Size doesn't make a great Dline. We got some gritty, talented boys, and guidry is sound af in his player personnel placement and his gap/assignment teaching. No team is going to just run roughshod over us If they do its because they're more talented with a good coach not because of size.
@malcolmjones27
@malcolmjones27 Жыл бұрын
@@sticit2mn , I hear you; but, if you think that size is not a factor you’re sorely mistaken. Being gritty is great. However, it only gets you so far in the trenches. Having heart and determination is good. I’m all for it. But don’t get it twisted. Size does matter. Especially on defense. Why do you think Mario went after bigger offensive players? The Oline this year is huge!

I agree with you, this segment however, was a focused more on Mirabal and the offense. I had the same conversation with Jon of Cafecito with Canes. I think good size with a combination of athleticism is good. I just hope LTIII is heavily utilized more this season. He is a disruptor and although he's not big Vince in terms of weight, he is constantly in the backfield

@malcolmjones27 no. Cincinnati has fielded a top notch defense for a few years in a row without major size just tough and very well coached. Note Dame Oline is full of massive blue chips yet Guidrys Marshall defense was able to stifle them at the point of attack for like 3.6 ypc and Marshall front wasn't massive or talented. I could give 100 examples. You don't need size as much as you need grit, technique, scheme and gap assignment discipline. Canes won all their Ships being a lot smaller up front than their opponents. Plenty of teams with big ass Dlines get ran tf over

@@sticit2mn , OK, tell you what; you take your gritty, tough, and well coached Cincinnati team and I'll take UGA. Who's winning? Better yet, you take your gritty, tough, and well coached Cincinnati team and I'll take Alabama. Who's winning? Chances are UGA and Alabama wins out. Why? Because at the end of the day, teams that have not only athleticism, great execution, discipline, grit, and size, WILL usually win out over teams that just have grit and determination. I say usually because on any given weekend any team can defeat another team. Just look at Cincinnati in their 2017 season. They did their thing right up until they met up with Alabama in the Championship game. So did TCU; right up until they got floored by UGA in the championship game. The game in how it's won or lose comes down to too many intangibles; who had more completed yards per passing, who had less fumbles, who had more interceptions, etc., In other words, who made the least mistakes. Usually, the team that made the least mistakes is the one that prevails. Even if you have all of these things, you can still lose if your coaching staff calls a lousy game. Regardless of size, etc., I can go on with 100 different matchups to prove this point. As far as Miami winning their ships back in the day. Bro, my guy, c'mon! You're comparing apples to oranges, here! Miami back then was just built different! I don't know which championship game you want to go into but if you're trying to tell me that anyone of those Miami teams were undersized across the board in any of those championship games than I have a bridge in China I'm selling for half price! You CAN make up for lack of size against an opponent in a lot of different ways. Again, I'm not saying that you can't. What I'm saying is that when that undersize defense meets up with an offense that has their $hit together and they're bigger, bro, you're going to have problems. As far as using Notre Dame as an example here; I wouldn't use Notre Dame to hold my "chicken wing!" Notre Dame chokes way too much. Prime example, their game against Miami back in 2017. Miami whipped that a$$ but them Miami turns right around and gets smacked in the face by Pitt the very next week. Again, it CAN go either way. But, I'm taking size, discipline and a good coaching game plan over just having discipline and a good coaching game plan every single time.
