Mannn, just what I needed. I went bowling last night to work on my slide and swinging my arm back for power. Went from 12mph to 16mph. Issue is, at that speed, I'm struggling to keep my hand on the inside to properly get rotation on the ball.

Just wondering who has a technique that is a little bit different I keep my hand above the ball , keep the logo facing the pins , take big steps and throw my ball 10-15 mph on average, and I have a 15 pound that doesn’t have the biggest hook potential when I throw it that’s because I keep it between the 2nd and 3rd arrows and sometimes 1st and 2nd arrows And I know this won’t help everyone but I think about the arrows and then the pins I do use this technique for most spares though

What should we do with the thumb and the fingers in the ball? How does the ball being drilled affect the fingers in the ball when swinging? Release grip or thumb pressing against the ball with the nail?
@CurtisL8.3066 Жыл бұрын
Grip pressure should be minimal, think of holding it like a baby bird. Not too easy not too hard. Just right. Pitches affect comfort, stretching or reducing your span can affect ball roll. Thumbnail should push into the slug with tape tight enough to almost push the ball off your hand
@dustymanjuiice44458 ай бұрын
The thumb slides out first before the 2 fingers once the thumb comes out turn the doorknob, and give that ball some spin... but the sooner you get it on the boards the better.. dont want to get into the habbit of dropping the ball or tossing it.. you essentially want to see it Glide

What do u guys mean by keeping ur hand on the inside ?
@cliffkemp3 ай бұрын
For advanced bowling, it means your hand is slightly inside if you are look from behind and seeing the hand position relative to the centerline of the ball. As you start to release the ball and your hand starts to rotate from inside to slightly outside, it acts as a windup to create positive lift at an angle to generate power. The more your finger are closer to 10 o'clock at the time of lift, the more axis rotation you will have to create a curve to the ball.... not to be confused with rotating around the thumb which creates 'spin' and not turn. Ideally, you want your ball to be 'flipped' (point at which it has fully gripped the lane and turning end over end) when it hits the head pin. It's like a punch... fist hits while accelerating, less power aka... ball is still sliding. Hitting after full extension, power is used up, for the most part aka... ball is rolled out and hits flat.

I never held on the inside (always 3 quarter drill & to the outside). I won Bowler of the Year & was 11th in the State of Florida Division 3 by age 15 in just 2 years of bowling. My avg went from 115 to 157 to 171 in 3 years. I had to quit since everything was stolen from me. I would play 3 games a year for a few & averaged 204 in those practice games. I havent bowled in 13 years & Im 100000% sure I could roll a 200 tomorrow. Everyone is different. I also never had a spare ball. I learned to flatten my wrist to stop the hook & that let me take out the 7 pins (Im a lefty) My changing that same wrist angle I could control the hook even more I pick up splits. Add speed. Reduce hook etc. It was all hitting marks & feel. Do what works for you. There is no correct way.

@@UhKimboze That’s true. I can throw my hook ball straight by coming straight up the back. @michlo3393 Жыл бұрын
I tend to agree with that, I've always come around and I'm sure that is a result of using plastic house balls for years and having my palm at damn near 9 o'clock on the release just to hit the pocket flush. I had to really adjust once I got an actual ball that reacts, but even then, I'm still coming around, though not as much.
