Wera has actually moved their production to the Czech Republic in 1995 when they built their own factory there. The headquarters are still right around the corner from me in Wuppertal, Germany tho. Oh, and the Böker Plus line of knives is actually also made outside of Germany. They still make a fair amount of knives here in Solingen, but have also built a big line of imported knives, as German labor costs are just too prohibiting for many customers, often me including.

I've had a similar Wera bit set - just the bits and an extension - for about a decade. Likely longer. None of the bits are stripped and it's my go-to for this kind of thing. Yes, it is very handy having the Pozi bits. Assembled a Craftsman shop chair; couldn't believe that it needed a Pozi. I have other bit sets, too, like most folks: Milwaukee, DW, Makita, Bosch, Astro. I prefer the Wera. I also have two of the ratcheting drivers - the long and the shorter one like yours - and three of their bit handles in various sizes. Screwdrivers, too. Their diamond tips can often grip a stripped fastener. Great stuff.

@11:11 I *LOVE* the Rapidaptors. A friend of mine recommended them to me. He said "Life's too short to constantly have to reach down and grab the bit from the screw" LOL. Also, you can operate it one handed. It clicks open, but stays open so you can put in a new bit. Very easy to do one handed. So when you're up on a ladder, and you have to change bits, it's quite useful. It's the small things in hand tools that put a smile on my face. Finally, I have the same kit and the low profile ratchet comes in so handy when working with tracksaws. When you adjust the saw to a track, it's hard to get a screwdriver to work. But the Wera ratchet from the kit works perfectly. I constantly reach for it now.

Wera are by far the best tools I’ve ever owned. I have some of the “Joker” wrenches now, as well as the ratcheting screwdriver handle with the rapid bit tech. I also recently ponied up for one of the high end bit sets and man, I had striped three previous bits, then switched to the Wera. The Wera bits made short work of it. I have a feeling I’ll be passing those wrenches down to my son one day, Maybe even the bits!

Where tools rival snap-on. They have a screwdriver with the bits hidden inside the handle. The shaft is fully hidden within the handle for stubby use but can be extended the length of the handle as a regular screwdriver. Also the entire shift can be removed for use as a bit holder in a drill or impact tool or as a longer extension for that tool set you were demonstrating. Look up their JOKER combination wrenches.

@@i_know_youre_right_but I still haven't seen a Robertson screw, and my Robertson bits continue to gather dust! Evidently they are very common in Canada, where they were invented, and I believe they are found in marine applications on boats etc, but for the kind of stuff I work on, I'm more likely to need a five-sided security Torx bit or a tri-wing or some such exotic driver than a Robertson.

I get Wera tools, I think they’re good, but I mostly never personally like most of the stuff I have used from them. However, that little bit ratchet is a true gem. I’ve had it for 7-8 years and it has held up to a lot of abuse. I keep it in my “go” box. It’s always with me and it has saved me a lot of headaches. That “rapidaptor” is probably the best locking bit holder on the market (with the obvious caveat of it’s bulkiness). My mother has the pop-out bit storage model you mentioned. When all is said and done, it’s way too complicated and the extendable/removable bit holder results in too much wobble imho. The goods: screwdrivers, bits, bit organization, hex and torx keys. The meh: the ratchet and socket range. AVOID: their stupid wrenches.
@lastbesttool

Thanks for the insights. And the advice on their wrenches. I am curious about them but the small jaw range has kept me away. I like my Knipex Plier Wrenches with their huge range.

I’ve never experienced wobble with my bit holder and the extension comes out probably a dozen times a day to be put in my impact driver. But I try to not abuse my tools, not saying she does could be an older model or I just got lucky and have tighter specs

Don't buy any pop out holder, same applies to bits inside handle. For Ratchet screwdriver, actually you should compare with Gedore 2675 SilentGear, unfortunately it is not available in US Amazon. All Wera bit adaptor whether for manual or impact driver, the bit holder part is too thick, you can not even deal with Ikea 😅. Thus if you like Wera exchangeable handle, go for Wera 810 or 812, same shape, only difference is the bit holder method, mechanical or magnetic. Also Wera 400 T handle & Stubby handle are good to have in case you need work inside confined space like inside drawer.
