Down to Bristol for example it is like HS1 but where the linespeed is mostly less e g down to Devon and Cornwall it feels good but different.

I wonder if it's possible to travel by steam train from Slough to London Paddington.
@Chetok4 жыл бұрын
Its only the increase in line speed which makes it a shorter trip. I was regularly doing Padd to Taunton non stop in 94 mins back in the 70's, when line speed west of Reading was at best 90 usually less.

Some of the GWR trains are the Class 43 HST. They rely solely on diesel power.

@@RailTripUK 125 mph isn't that impressive when you consider that the intercity 125 has been doing that speed since 1976, you would have expected some increase in the intervening years, not HS2 type speeds but at least 140 mph - why can't network rail get their act together and just retrofit the mainlines with ETCS signalling to enable 140 mph operation?

@@manusmacgearailt667 yeah! I've been wondering about that! I guess that would have been more efficient too.

The 737-8MAX is just not safe anymore. I booked a flight in June and the aircraft said 737-8MAX let’s hope they replace it with a another airplane like 737-800. R.I.P Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines.🙏
@RailTripUK5 жыл бұрын
I agree. I would have loved to travel on that sleek and beautiful looking 737, but safety is just not up to par. Hopefully they replace it with a more reliable aircraft. God bless those who died in the crash and also those who are grieving. This is a very sad time in aviation history, and will hopefully be remembered for a very long time.
@acika86405 жыл бұрын
Yup, looked forward to go on that plane never been on one. But some scientists think it was something with the stall sensors or the engines being a bit higher on the wings. SAD :(

@@RailTripUK Remember that if you were to consider the numerous airbus a320 accidents between 1988 and 1995, you would be just as scared of flying on that aircraft, at least in the period immediately following those accidents - and that's not counting the one that stalled and crashed off the coast of Perpignan during a test flight in 2008. Goes to show that aircraft sometimes start off unsafe but eventually grow to become reliable and safe over time.
