@@bomboclaat6706 there have been no confirmed human fatalities by sand tiger sharks and only 40 or less unprovoked, non-fatal attacks. They are pretty darn docile!

@@oreldm Makos look a bit more like Great Whites, but probably the closest in terms of looks would be the Salmon shark, which almost looks exactly like a smaller GW. I flubbed a bit by confusing the Lemon with the Salmon. Either way around, the sharks around the bait ball in this video were definitely Sand Tigers.

I love this video -- you always hear about how rarely sharks attack humans, but somehow with Al the media it's hard to really believe until you see something like this. Absolutely beautiful. Of course, you also need to keep respectful and realize that there's always a chance of things going wrong, like with any wild animal.

Come join us Steve! While we tend to have sand tigers year-round, the larger volume of sharks are on our wrecks in the winter when they are preparing to pup.

Looks like mostly female sand tigers. As someone else commented, they are probably there to drop their pups. The Great White certainly put them into perspective! What a privilege to see! Although, my wetsuit would definitely have needed a good scrub out!

Wow!! Amazing video! I never saw that many sand tigers on any NC wreck! I know it changes year to year, but I think they congregated on the Atlas last time I was there there. I only remember seeing 2 on the Papoose. It's been too long since I've been down there, need to change that!

They've been coming around NC for years. In the early 2000's they were sighted on the Atlas and Carib sea, and a tagged shark Mary Lee was 23 miles off Carolina Beach a few years ago. 23 miles is about where the Hyde and Markam sit.

@@brendoncassidy1316 I think it's just on the migration route. The wrecks off the coast are a good spot for the females to pup because of the variety of fish on the wrecks. A great place for the newborns to feed.
