I have a love/hate relationship with the ocean and snorkeling. It's incredible the things you can see. The 'hate' comes up once I start focusing on the 'murk' 15 feet out and my brain starts thinking about what's out there that I can't see. Instant anxiety.

i have a salt water reef aquarium, on my knowledge the fish have a symbiotic relationship with the shark. they clean the shark of parasites and eat the parasites along with scraps and the shark provides protection for them because what would usually eat them wouldnt come near a shark. tons of relationships like that in the ocean, i used to have a pistol shrimp/watchman goby (which is a fish) pair. the pistol shrimp (loudest animal in the world from the snap of its claw) is nearly blind but a great excavator. the shrimp creates a home for them both to live in and the watchman goby is sensitive to any threats. the shrimp always has an antenna on the goby to know when a predator is coming. fascinating teamwork developed over all of time

I went scuba diving for the first time in Maui this summer. I tried to not think about sharks but it was always on my mind. I stayed pretty close to the boat just in case. 😂

When my daughter first moved to Long Beach she would frequently swim in the Pacific until one afternoon something bumped her leg and that was the last time she swam in the Pacific.

Those lion fish were introduced to the florida waters, and have become fish destroying the local eco system, so Florida allows ppl to fish as many as they can, and restaurants have started to make new recipes with them.

The first encounter in South Africa casues a awkward misunderstanding. The guy surfaced and shouted 'white', his mates on the boat raised their fists and responded with 'power'.

I am more afraid of Bull Sharks than a great white.
@willvr4Ай бұрын
I was about to say the same thing. They're way more territorial, aggressive, and they can also thrive in fresh water...so they can be in rivers. That being said, I grew up around the water (NY, Atlantic Ocean and Long Island Sound) and I'm not afraid of sharks and never encountered one.

Im afraid of tiger sharks because of their temper and appetite and Bullsharks because of their versatility and protective nature over their nurseries. Great whites are one of the last sharks I'd worry about. 😅 I'd even put Mako above whites

The crew in the boat had a good laugh at the expense of their buddy in the water with a shark?! I'd push them out of the boat and see how much they laugh. If only Sydney had installed a fence to keep dimwits from jumping in shark waters. Oh wait they did.

I've been to Guadalupe before and I can tell you that the sharks are way bigger than the gaps in the cages. Those gaps are also there for tourists who have large bulky camera equipment, so you can get footage of the sharks without the bars of the cage in your view.

A bull shark might be king of the sea. This shark can swim in salt water and fresh water. Sharks are a fascinating creature of the sea but a shark can swim 10 feet a second and a human 3 feet a second.

Hi guys, you do a great job. I live in Florida on the West Coast Gulf of Mexico. I would tell you this if sharks really thought we were good eating we’d be wiped out. It’s usually a mistake when they bite because we’re not what they want.😊

I live in Hawaii. I encounter sharks quite often, even in waist deep water. They're like bees, don't go near them and they won't bother you. I tend to avoid swimming in the summertime because that's when tiger sharks are more active. We lose a few people each year to shark attacks, usually surfers; I never go surfing mainly because of this, it's just not worth the risk
@willvr4Ай бұрын
On the off-chance you encounter a shark and can see it, look them in the eyes and let them know you see them. They're predators, and will only attack you if they mistake you as prey. Also, try to swim above them for dominance. They aren't smart creatures. Keep in mind, a lot of these people need money to fund their expeditions and are antagonizing and feeding the sharks from the boat. I'm a professional editor, and I know exactly how this game is played.

When you encounter A great white shark try not to freak out. And do not make any noise like splashing etc, because splashing makes a shark think that it's a fish in distress
@wiseomgАй бұрын
To be fair you have a higher posibility to be hit by lightning then to be attacked by a great white shark, and it`s 1 to 11.5 millon chance of being attacked by a shark and less than 1 to 265 million chance to be killed by one and that`s all sharks not just the great white shark so it`s even slimmer odds if we just include the great white shark. That being said i would never swim in shark infested waters🙂
