I'm just recovering from surgery to fix 3 ruptured discs, I've no idea how Michaels managed to even walk to the ring let alone pull off what he did in the match against Austin. It's insane.

World War 3: Favorite memory is one I didn't learn of until listening to an interview with Regal. The 1995 WW3 Battle Royal. Pre-"Squire" Dave Taylor is in the match. Hogan grabs him, and Dave kicks Hogan with a perfect kick to the gut, then NAILS The Hulkster with a European Uppercut so good you see it knock some cobwebs loose in Hogan's head... like he hadn't been hit that stiff in North America since joining Vince Jr. Hogan staggers away, and it's.... it's just beautiful.

Austin/Michaels at WrestleMania 14 was never going to be what it could have been as Shawn had a broken back that was making his drug addiction even worse and Austin had a broken neck. Both men said they tore it up on the house show loop in 1996 and they had a great match at KOTR in 1997 as well, had both men been healthy in 1998 then their WrestleMania 14 match would have been a classic.

While Rock and had Cena some phenomenal back-and-forth verbal exchanges with each other from 2011 to 2013 but once they decided to have a rematch at ‘Mania 29, it ultimately killed my interest for the rivalry. It makes it worse that WWE blatantly lied to our faces with a whole “once in a lifetime” marketing nonsense from the previous year. Plus, The Rock made it clear on an interview a few years after that the whole plan was to extend his feud with Cena from ‘Mania 27-29 all along. To make matters worse, CM Punk was also robbed of his WrestleMania main event. People can say what they want about Punk but one thing nobody can deny is that he definitely deserved to main event ‘Mania 29.

I'm glad Kofi/Brock was included on this list because that is not how Kofimania should have ended. A fun bit of trivia: Every time Kofi has been in a title match on a new show or on a new network, the title changed hands! (Smackdown debut on Fox vs Lesnar, and he became IC champ against the Miz on the Main Event relaunch in 2012) Get Kofi a title shot when they move to Netflix!

I'm excited to hear about a 99 Randy Savage deep dive. I really hope you talk about the problems Macho was having on the mental side as well as the physical. I don't see videos talking about how he was having trouble dealing with getting older, how he wasn't in the right state of mind (even for the Macho Man) the drinking /drugs and partying he was doing with women half his age, the politics that led to his abrupt title loss and his inevitable blow up with Russo, that led to his run in WCW coming to an end.

Craziest part about the Marufuji/Ibushi match is that as early as a week before, Ibushi was openly discussing in interviews how badly he was hurt and videos of him limping into the venue were shared around. How NOAH didnt call an audible and at least have the world title main event over this or even cut the match from 35 minutes to 15 or 10, I have no idea. The match sent alot of unfair criticism towards Marufuji too (one of the most infulential and innovative wrestlers of the 21st century) but at least Marufuji has drowned that out with great match after great match and including the match with Styles.

On top of that, THEY DIDN'T NEED THE BELT for that match. What's its hype? MMA fighters!!!! In WWE!!! Who cares if they're fighting for a gimmick belt or not? SOMEONE MIGHT DIE IN THE RING!!!! Buy our show! That's what you're selling. Brock never needs a belt, HE is the attraction. Just like the rock in today's wwe, walking around with his made up "People's belt" or whatever it's called. It's a gimmick that he doesn't need, that makes him look like he's trying to be something he's not (ie an ACTUAL champion), and to be honest, it's something he has to carry around/chance it gets lost/stolen/whatever. It's just dumb. (Wouldn't surprise me if Dwayne slept with that fugly belt though, tbh Dwayne's a bigger mark than tony.)

The business stuff. Brock sold tickets. He sold 'em without the belt. Vince always liked his main event to be for the WORLD belt. Meh. Brock doesn't need it to be a draw. Kofi, hey, it helped him. Shoulda left it on Kofi, because Brock was fine without it. Let me give you an example, and I hope this makes sense... Let's say you and I are gonna wrestle on PPV. Who cares about that? But now, say the winner becomes WWE champion! Well now 2 guys no one knows anything about suddenly become kind of important. Our match would need the belt to sell tickets. I disagree, if only because I think 2002 Sting and Undertaker could have had a worthwhile feud and match. Of course this means Sting heading to WWF/E and not TNA and that wasn't happening but if it had, it would have been worth it and 2002 (besides just them both being in better condition) was much closer to WCW having existed, that'd also make it mean more to than WCW having been gone for well over a decade and the whole thing was two broken down men, trading on nostalgia alone.

I can remember getting the first WWA ppv on a ripped DVD. I remember I was just hoping for an alternative that was actually worth watching, one that brought me back to staying up WAYYYYY past my bedtime at my cousin's house to watch the original ECW on MSG network and being blown away. Having grown up a Golden Era kid I never saw anything like it. I think the biggest issue with WWA is that none of the roster, especially the main guys, seemed fully committed to success of the company. Everyone seemed to have something going on in the background. You can't tell me Jarrett wasn't in the planning stages of TNA or that Steiner wasn't always gonna follow the money. The idea of 70 shows a year sounds fun on paper but in reality wrestling is a gone and your forgotten type of business (unless you make a big impact). I think a lot of cards would have had to have fallen in the right spots in order for it to be a success. Instead it feels like a handful of midcard reunion shows with no real direction or attempt for the future

The material is out there.* *Me and my friends were always looking for him and whether he was in the audience or not was actually a factor in the drinking games we would play while we watched.* *Unless you actually experienced being in your late teens/early 20s during those years…you’ll just never understand how great things were in those days*

The usos match from this year was ATROCIOUS. It also ruined a card that was close to a classic.

I love Kota Ibushi, but he’d been putting off getting surgery which he really needed for a long time. That match with Marufuj really showed his body was barely being held together. It’s horrible to see, no one was even mad, just worried because Kota is and has been one of the best in the world but he’s pushed himself way beyond his limits as a human. I don’t want him to retire but if he has to, I understand.

I remember getting trouble in jr high for putting my thumb up and yelling “Hohhh!”. The teacher thought I was calling her a ho. I was so much of a jokester with my peers that the teachers always thought I was after them too. But I never was haha Oh yeah, when you said give it a big hacksaw thumbs up, the memory came back 😁

Yea i honestly really like Austin/HBK from 14. This was Austin's first long singles match on PPV since his Summerslam injury and obviously you have Shawn and his back. Despite that, the match is really damn good. I dont know why people think it isnt good because they have a great crowd, they work a strong pace, Shawn still takes some brutal bumps and i thought both guys delivered a match that was as great as it was going to be. I think people rank it low because they were expecting a 10/10 classic and all we got was about an 8 or 8.5/10.......i mean thats still really damn good honestly.

Here’s the thing about Bret Hart that gets overlooked: he often very obviously didn’t try when he didn’t like the booking. The IYH Sid match, IYH cage match with Diesel, and Royal Rumble match with Taker are all clear examples of Hart phoning it in like it was a house show match. When he tried, he was the best overall worker of all time, but in contrast to Shawn Michaels who (despite his problems with dropping titles and general asshole attitude) was obsessed with having a great match no matter what, Bret didn’t always show up.

Besides the things you mentioned bout Savage in 1999, he was also doing drugs in '99 so that didn't help his in-ring work either.

I get what you mean, it was just basically a squash because of Jeff's condition but technically a bell did ring to begin and end. It technically counts as a match

The Jeff Hardy/ Sting situation could have been handled WAY better. Have Jeff get "jumped" by someone backstage & now he's too hurt to wrestle. Whoever did the jumping is the new opponent for sting. It's not rocket science.

As Bret Hart is my favourite, I will stick to him. His submission match with Bob Backlund was terrible. His 'match' with Vince was even worse - but that should have never even happened. But to me the Ironman match is also on the list. They should have never announced that the guys would go for an hour. It should have been a straight up match going the distance. And then go into overtime. Instead we got plodding 'action' by two of the very best, obviously pacing themselves.
