I'm a professional animator and a lifelong Disney fan. Own tons of Disney collectables, merchandise, memorabilia. We have 5 kids, we are Disney Vacation Club members and have taken family vacation there with 19+ people every year for the past 20 years. This year, it all ended. Done with the parks, done with the movies, done with Disney. Not only is the magic gone, but Boreing nailed the exact reason that it most likely is the end of this formerly beloved company as we know it. The people at the core of it all, the storytellers and creatives, are completely inept. They can't tell a good story, don't know who their audience is, and put their own agenda in front of everything. Such a sad thing to witness.

It goes beyond incompetence: I would argue that the ideology *precludes* good storytelling outright, in several ways. First of all, progressivism is reflexively against traditions, customs and tropes, so there goes thousands of years of storytelling knowledge right out the window. Worse, the ideology teaches values that are antithetical to traditional heroic virtues like selflessness and self-sacrifice. Finally, the ideology is extremely limiting WRT how certain demographics can or cannot be depicted. White guys can either be villains or pathetic punching bags. Women and minorities are amazing in every regard. And on and on. The ideological constraints put on any story mean that the outcome is predetermined: it is destined to fail and be boring and predictable in the process.

Agreed, and now they're paying for it after the RCID fiasco that they exposed themselves to scrutiny over simply because they chose to use their power and influence in the name of social justice with the LGBTQIA community over the bill that DeSantis passed in the FL state legislature preventing gender identity and LGBT topics from being discussed or introduced to young children in FL public schools. They cried and whined over people being denied 1st amendment rights to free speech etc. If they hadn't raised such a big stink over that, Disney would STILL have their privilege of self governance through Reedy Creek rather than having it stripped from them. Because after it was taken away, an independent organization under the state of FL has decided to look into their finances via an audit, and the further they looked into the company's history since Walt Disney passed away, the more evidence they found of impropriety and criminal malfeasance and negligence. Disney is going to lose money faster than ever now because they will soon be embroiled in a massive battle of litigation and before it's all said and done, they will lose everything and will be no more. All assets will be sold off and departments and organizations dissolved to pay all of their outstanding debts and attorney fees, court costs, money owed to the IRS that went unreported, future judgements for restitution and reparations to be paid back to FL as justice for their crimes etc. No way they are getting a taxpayer bailout when they already HAD access to taxpayer funds and misused them. The best they can hope for is a hostile corporate takeover and being bought out by another woke company who still has money to burn because Disney's is nearly gone

When you go to business school, at least when I got my MBA, the number rule of business is to maximize profits. If you don’t follow the number 1 rule, you won’t be in business for long and nothing else matters. Most of these Jokers forgot the number 1 rule. Sears was the case study I used in my MBA. How Amazon beat Sears to the internet. Sears hired a bunch of consultants to develop an internet catalog, where Amazon just rolled it out and said we will fix it as we go. After a year Sears was already out of date with their internet catalog.

Even after Disney goes belly up you’ll still be declaring that it wasn’t because they injected woke identity politics into their movies, it wasn’t because they put radical sexual and racial ideology into children’s tv shows or parks, yes it will be because of “changing tastes” or “declining market share” or some other word salad that absolves them from their own poor choices to push this nonsense on people. The first red flag was The Force Awakens. Killing a parent in a Disney movie was a sign. In Rogue One you have the first Disney princess who does in a nuclear attack. The Last Jedi turned toy stores across the world into museums. Solo toys made it to the bargain bin in one week. It was full or warnings. The firing of Gina Carano actually made stocks to decline. I am sorry you have lost so much money. The brand was destroyed long ago. But customers were patient and complained on loud. But they now got fed up and this is why losses came. When Disney bought Star Wars, trading channel moved up between $97 to $114. It was a money printing machine in 2012. The maximum stock price was around $150 so you may guess how much weight Star Wars customers had. Disney did not buy a brand or a logo. They bought a well shaped customer base. But Disney decided to play mental games with customers. All that internet noise with complains were actually customers venting and hoping for the company to change. Today with a price below $97 you know the company lost a huge chunk of customer base. And it is likely that the price is overestimated I was a lifetime faithful customer of Star Wars. I got fed up of corporate drama messing with my entertainment and now my wallet moved to Battletech forever. No change of management will change that. The best indicator to see how a company goes is it's customer base. You become a customer and you will see red flags.

Disney has thrown away the complete trust of parents everywhere. I'm a grandmother of 12 grandchildren. Although my 6 kids were taken to Disney world not anymore no Disney anything. No books, movies, Disney + gone, no clothing, no coloring books. I'm sure Disney is glad to see my family go and I'm happy to oblige! I was out shopping with little granddaughter she picked up a book...grandma's always going to go for the book, it was a Disney book, I told her to make another selection because Disney are bad people who don't care about what's good for children nothing Disney!!! When we go to Florida we go somewhere else for family fun!

It's time to say no to those companies that punish half the world for saying what they think, I hope they continue to cancel more, Walmart also follows the same path. For my part, I don't have Disney but if I have bought at Walmart, I won't buy any more. I have noticed how they also attack actors and actresses who say what they really think and silence them and then they have to reluctantly retract it.

Disney could get away with a lot of mistakes because that's just the nature of the business. The problem is they kept doubling and tripling down on them making it obvious that it was all intentional. They kept at it so long they managed to redefine themselves for at least a generation. I don't mind supporting the things they occasionally get right but its getting really rare.

🇬🇧We used to subscribe to Disney+ but cancelled this when the programming took a woke turn. We used to visit Orlando and the parks every year since 1989. Last year was our last,; we spent the whole time commenting about the cost of everything versus the value for money. It felt like you were getting a fraction of the experience for a much higher price. Also being in the parks felt like you were participating in the hunger games (May the best man win). We will still come to Orlando but Universal will be our park of choice, they have remained laid back, welcoming and consistent with pricing over the last 5 years.
