Just played this one-hit-wonder album. The music is far nicer than much of the music of today and takes me back to a time which was far less complicated, more straight. One reefer a year, ( joint, to all you cannabis users today) was prosecuted not the same extravagant amount as today. A fun time, with far less teenage angst.

Us boys would do the same thing walking back and forth to school . And at the soda shops. We would go to the drive ins . Listen to this music and grab our favorite girl. And start dancing in the parking lot . I can't say life was necessarily easier back then . But life and times was simple back then. Then we lost our innocents when the world went crazy . And the reality of the Vietnam war changed our world forever .

I was born in the late 70s... I´ve been sucking in every single bit of the 50s and 60s ever since I first listened to my moms old records and stumbled across Grease with around 12 or so... It´s still the music from that era, the pictures, the over all feeling that touches me the most emotionally... Just born in the wrong time, I can safely say that :)

Freedom in my childhood growing up in the '70s. Rode my bike all over the place, staying out until the street lights flickered on, and the sun had dipped below the horizon. Eight track tapes, record players, knowing all your neighbors, block parties, playing with all the neighborhood kids in their yards and in the streets. Sucking on popsicles, climbing trees, and playing Ghost in the Graveyard. Beautiful memories.

This is the music from my teenage years through my early twenties. So many memories good and bad, but the best times in my life and the early 90's. I am just so grateful that I was present during that era and got to experience a way of life (a simple life) that will never be experienced by anyone again. Times will never be like they were which is very unfortunate for young people. Shoot no more cruise, no more keggers, hardly any more dances even, its sad. I guess tik tok, twitter and snapchat is their fun these days. yuk.

@@EmmaRiddle543 - You are off to a wonderful start in life! You will have to seek out and meet people with your classic and vintage interests. Choose your college wisely, as it sounds like you will. Also, something that probably has not occurred to you - choose your church parish wisely. (If you are Catholic, seek out a Traditional parish (with Traditional Latin Mass, etc.) . It is full of really smart, culturally diverse, interesting people many of whom share your qualities. One millennial explained to me how t=so many millenials seek it out bc they are looking for the genuine truths, and so much about it reflects that. ). Blessings.

Today is way better than the 1960s - believe me, I was there. The 60s were all about war, racial strife, generational conflict, nuclear terror - I'll take the 2020s any time! Not to mention all the great music on youtube!

thank you so much. You have no idea how much it means. A big thank you also goes to all of the 80s music creators, and all the channels out there with mixes like this one. I am so incredibly grateful for all of you. ♥🤍

Well as you might expect, the first one by Del Shannon, Runaway, for most of us didn't consider him a one hit wonder. Searchin, Stranger in Town were great songs in the Shannon style. He wrote his own music and wrote "I Go To Pieces", a top ten hit for Peter and Gordon. Tremeloes, #6, had a big hit "Here Comes My Baby", same year as this one, 1967. Five top ten hits in the UK up through 1970.

You're right, Rick., Del Shannon was not a one hit wonder. In the US, he had seventeen hits in the top 100, four of them top ten hits. Here in the UK, had eight top ten hits plus many others that made the top forty. He was very popular in the UK in the 60s.

Rhythm of the Rain was the first record I ever owned at the ripe old age of 9. Played it over and over until it wouldn't play anymore. How my family dealt with it I have no idea. Its an o.k. song I guess. Still, it apparently helped kindle my life long love for music, and for that I'm most grateful.

I think personally the 60s had the best music. Everything from hard rock to just cute stuff… And it was great. Things were more respectable and I guarantee overall better morals. Today anything goes and take a look around is not going well

Long before Bananarama got a hold of it, in 1970, the song Venus became the first of only two songs out of Holland (the Netherlands) to rise to the top of the American chart. Not to be confused with the Frankie Avalon song of the same name, Venus was recorded by the band Shocking Blue, led by Dutch musician Robbie van Leeuwen. It became a number one hit on February 7, 1970.
