Sir Viv Richards is the best ever in the history of Cricket. Irrespective of the nationality all spectators wanted him to be not out in the middle. No arm guard no chest guard no helmet, still lives without any harm, only secret was his eyes. Once he had told a reporter you must develop your skill to see the ball very well. Secret of his success. Long live Sir Viv Richards. Greetings from the pearl of the Indian Ocean.

Best ever? no, incredible batsman, yes. Closest to Richards I have seen since him is Kohli, both have an unbelievable ability. They are the type of batsman you want your team to get out cheaply but you'd really like to see them bat for an hour as well
@Wally-H4 жыл бұрын
@@bannedspencer Richards was the best ever, no doubt about it. You have to remember in his day, no power plays and silly fielding restrictions, plus those old bats were nowhere near as effective as they are now. He was the most naturally gifted player there has ever been. Also, like all truly great players, he could pull an innings out of the bag when his team most needed it.
@bannedspencer4 жыл бұрын
@@Wally-H Having to remember??? Ha, I watched him come over to smash my teams bowlers since 75. It may be hard to believe but in75, he was a better fielder than bat...that is how good he was in the field. Richards the Master and one of the GREATEST in the history of Cricket. Man was fearless and totally intimidating to Bowlers, No Helmet, Chewing Gum and the fans loved him. Imagine the score was 166/9 when Holding joined him and took the total to 272. Added 106 runs of which Holding made 12. Truly fabulous.

There will never be someone like him. The Greatest Player ODI format has ever seen. Don Bradman of ODI. Not to forget, he's one of the Greatest in Tests too. And the aura he had, the Swag, that Intimidating Look that would scare the shit out of the opposition. Easily The Most Feared Batsman of all time. Legend🙏👌
@Bernie83305 жыл бұрын
Richards's batting style was nothing like Bradman's but in fact more like Walter Hammond's who was also a thunderous master blaster style player. Tendulkar is the player whose physical batting style actually most mirrored Bradman's. In terms of phenomenal run scoring and unrivalled average compared to other in his own or other eras, Virat Kohli is the 'Bradman of one day cricket' if we want to bandy such tags about so cheaply.
@vaibhavchopra52975 жыл бұрын
@@Bernie8330 Well, I think you think too unilaterally. The compliment just meant that Richards is the Greatest in that format. I never compared the playing shots, or their characters because they were quite different. Also, I was not saying on the basis of stats that you said about Virat. Yes, statistically, he will be the Greatest, but mark my words, if Viv Richards had been playing in this era, Virat would ve completely overshadowed both by his presence and Swagger and statistics. And now, you can bitch about it. Go on.

Style of his own. ' might is right ' type of batting. No decent placements, no excellent drives, nil late cuts, no upper cuts, all were rough and airy shots. Astonishing knocks, but not entertaining. Also, the bowling was not that good. All WIs were playing similar shots. However, that was his day. Was admiring Richards' play before Sachin's debut. But, our little master has plundered our hearts with his amazing variety of shots with all decency. I prefer Sachin as more entertainer than Viv.

Kapil Dev's 175 not out off 138 balls in 1983 world cup vs Zimbabwe(a strong team at that time)has to be the greatest ever ODI knock,with respect to this mammoth knock of Viv Richards.It was do- or- die match for India and they were reeling at 17/ 5.And then Kapil played that match winning knock which enabled India to win the World cup at that time.Unfortunately that knock was not recorded live on Tv.
@pras24293 жыл бұрын
@@mywonderjam It was a world cup match.And Kapil was part of an Indian team which used to be known as minnows back then.Otherwise its a matter of personal opinion and this is indeed a dynamic knock by the best batsman the Cricket world has seen in the post Worldvwar era - Sir Richards.
