West Indies at 166-9 , sir viv at 96* , Micheal Holding came to the crease, they both had a partnership of 106 runs and 93 runs came from sir viv's bat. Sir viv scored unbeaten189* runs and broken the record of Kapil dev's 175* runs who had scored in 1983 world cup .What an Absolute Legend he was 🙏 Greatest Player ever played the Game.

Sir Viv Richards is the best ever in the history of Cricket. Irrespective of the nationality all spectators wanted him to be not out in the middle. No arm guard no chest guard no helmet, still lives without any harm, only secret was his eyes. Once he had told a reporter you must develop your skill to see the ball very well. Secret of his success. Long live Sir Viv Richards. Greetings from the pearl of the Indian Ocean.

Best ever? no, incredible batsman, yes. Closest to Richards I have seen since him is Kohli, both have an unbelievable ability. They are the type of batsman you want your team to get out cheaply but you'd really like to see them bat for an hour as well
@Wally-H4 жыл бұрын
@@bannedspencer Richards was the best ever, no doubt about it. You have to remember in his day, no power plays and silly fielding restrictions, plus those old bats were nowhere near as effective as they are now. He was the most naturally gifted player there has ever been. Also, like all truly great players, he could pull an innings out of the bag when his team most needed it.
@bannedspencer4 жыл бұрын
@@Wally-H Having to remember??? Ha, I watched him come over to smash my teams bowlers since 75. It may be hard to believe but in75, he was a better fielder than bat...that is how good he was in the field. Agree though, even with the old bats he could clear the MCG boundary when it was 100 metres In my time watching cricket he was the most annoying bat to bowl to followed closely by Tendulkar and Gilchrist

I'm a big fan of Bob, who is often underrated and actually had bowling stats that stood up very well against the other great bowlers of his era (Lillee, Thomson, Holding and Roberts etc.) but Viv had such brilliant timing he just used Willis' pace against him. the two had some great battles over the years and you would have to say overall, Viv came out on top.

Fortunate enough to watch this live as a child with my Dad, unbelievable knock in a match we would have lost easily otherwise. The best player in the world at the time and he showed why here. My hero in cricket.

I'm just admired with this great man's stylish batting. I am always a great fan of Sir Richards.
@ckamalakanth95325 жыл бұрын
Style of his own. ' might is right ' type of batting. No decent placements, no excellent drives, nil late cuts, no upper cuts, all were rough and airy shots. Astonishing knocks, but not entertaining. Also, the bowling was not that good. All WIs were playing similar shots. However, that was his day. Was admiring Richards' play before Sachin's debut. But, our little master has plundered our hearts with his amazing variety of shots with all decency. I prefer Sachin as more entertainer than Viv.

The Greatest ODI Player ever & certainly among the greatest in the tests too. BTW, He managed to play this magnificent knock at a strike rate of 111.17 Mind Boggling ... Amazing Player.

This is the best batsman I've ever seen, there is no one that has picked up at bat since then, even come close. Can you imagine the great Viv playing in todays modern standards, he would of destroyed any bowling attack.

Richards was a one man wrecking crew if you asked me!He was feared by all opposing cricket teams.He was a natural born cricket player ,with excellent hand eye cordination skills.No matter how bad a situation West Indies found themselves in,you could never have counted them out as long as Richards were batting.Richards was a naturally gifted cricket genius then and rightfully become a cricket legend.

Went to this match with my brother. They had oversold the tickets and when we got in there was nowhere to sit. They didn't allow us to stand so we had to come home. Disgracfull from the Old Trafford authorities as we missed a legendary performance from Sir Viv. Watched it on tv but not quite the same.

Vivian Richards is the best batsmen i have seen. He always carried this amazing swagger that suggested he was in complete control. Never did i see him appear intimidated nor did i see him ever wear a helmet.
@Wally-H4 жыл бұрын
He always intimidated the bowling and fielding side with his very presence. he would swagger out to the wicket, chewing a piece of gum, looking as though he was just heading off for a bit of light net practice. The bowlers knew what was coming. If they didn't get him out in the first few overs they were in deep trouble.
