Brilliant guitar player. Love her style. Fantastic singer. Way under-rated. How does material like this not get any airplay! Damn Nashville suits and soccer moms.

I’m from Nashville, born and raised and a guitar player. Those Nashville suits are stuffed full of money and the soccer mom’s are unhappy.

Interestingly, I was an early fan of Bonnie Raitt who had not yet caught on all that much with the American music scene, but I found, while living in London in the mid-70s, that the English loved her and she was a big hit on the BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test in this 1976 appearance and also at the Odeon Hammersmith in London before a jam-packed audience in August 1977, a concert I attended and loved. Ultimately she became a star in the U.S. but I admit I loved her most during her younger years.

Man I've been seeing, baby Got their soul up on a shelf No, they could never love me Can't even love himself But, I want someone to love me Baby, I want a one who understands Who won't put himself above me Who can love me like a man I never seen such losers Don't think I haven't tried To find a man to take me home Instead of always for a ride Baby, are you someone who can? Believe me when I tell you, Darlin' You can love me like a man They want me to rock on Like my back ain't got no bone Why don't you rock me one time, baby Like my backbone was your own Baby, I wanna wait until you can Believe me when I tell you, Darling You can love me like a man Come home sad and lonely Feel like I wanna cry Come over here and hold me, baby And don't ever ask they reason why I said, I want a lover Won't have to work to understand Don't you put yourself above me, baby Love me like a man

You got that right. This is real talent, not that corporate “assembly line” crap they put out today. When Bonnie was trying to make it in the music business a musician had to actually be able to sing, play, write, etc. And they had to be exceptionally well at it or they wouldn’t make it. Today all they need is a pretty face. The corporations provide the songs and the technology to make them seem talented. It’s pathetic.
