You mention the production value of this one, check out Skinless - "Overlord".. The song is actually about the Normandy invasion during WWII. A lot of people don't know, but the mission name of the actual Normandy invasion was called "Overlord". Very cool video - oh, and kinda heavy.. hehe

My method of finding music I've not yet heard is to just think of a country/culture and pick a genre and do a search. One day I thought; hmm, I wonder if "Viking Metal" is a thing, boom, I found Amon Amarth. A search of "German EDM" led me to a whole bunch of stuff I like that is industrial, "Russian acoustic" led me to another whole bunch of stuff I now like that isn't even acoustic, and that in turn led me to some Mongolian metal. I can't even remember how I made my way to bands like The Dead South, The Devil Makes Three, and Ghoultown.

I just saw them with Ghost. That was Ghost's big mistake bringing these guys along. They were better than Ghost. Not the greatest pairing. Ghost is a pop band now but Amon Amarth is the real deal.

You should realy react to Dark Tranquility for top notch melodic death metal music, they have the perfect recipe for each of their songs: clean/brutal vocals, melodies, solos, amazing lyrics. They are pioneers of the genre and they're still going strong wih their last album being considered one of the best in metal this year. Try "Forward Momentum", it has a realy well put music video to go with it.
