"I am the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on a rope". Finally somebody analyzed what is arguably THE BEST line in the entire song.
@LuxFuxx Жыл бұрын
To me it's the "I stood in your flames and cremated my brain, and I didn't once flinch or shake. So cower at the man I've become, as I sing from the top of my lungs. That I won't retire, I'll stand in your fire and inspire the meek to be strong." Chills every time.

This final section of the song, just after the evil voice, has some incredible verses. I agree with you guys both, LuxFuxx and teenanmcmichael. This section elevates the narrative in such a way that it makes us cry just by listening to it, especially when it is performed by Ren. It is sublime.

Here is some additional information on Ren's story that I gathered from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's public livestreams and posts. A handful of people frequently post an earlier version of my comment to various reactions that they copied and pasted verbatim, so if this is a repeat just ignore this comment. I keep editing the information, as needed, and have removed details about Ren that some found to be too personal, such as his full name and D.O.B. All the information here was gathered exclusively from sources Ren personally approved for public release. Ren is a British musician/independent artist/producer, self-taught multi-instrumentalist; originally from Wales. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, Ren began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures, which eventually caused him to discontinue his studies and return home. In addition, Ren was signed by Sony Records in 2010 and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point that he was unable to go on; consequently, his contract with Sony was dissolved. Ren would later relocate to Brighton. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is in Calgary, Canada for at least six months (Summer of 2023), undergoing treatments such as IV therapy and other interventions five days a week, as well as surgeries (wisdom tooth removal and cavitation surgery). His Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, and adrenals as well as his bones/joints. Hence, Ren is receiving additional treatments for this previously undiagnosed condition. He recently took a break from treatments and returned to the UK to visit family and friends, and to produce some very ambitious musical projects to be released soon. Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Check out and subscribe to his channel; if you are a content creator, ask your audience to subscribe to Ren. Ren's YT channel just surpassed 1 million subscribers. and his videos have garnered millions and millions of views. Listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to the world, and his work is important in these troubling times. Someone has finally created a Wikipedia page for Ren, so there is additional information available.

It is so inspirational to watch the affect that Ren's work has on people. Not a specific age group, not one sex over another, not a race or culture, or a specific religion. But rather, the impact that it has on every single person that is introduced to it regardless of their details. It truly is an incredible thing to watch. I have never seen an artist with the ability to have such a deep impact on the lives of such a variety of people the world over. No matter how many people get behind an artist, they always still have a long line-up of haters as well. It seems that Ren haters are few & far between. If you do find one, their probably just trolling, and in truth, are in just as much awe of the sick boi as the rest of us. My only hope is that he doesn't ever allow all the positive comments & feedback overwhelm him, and cause him to think that he has to live up to expectations of his audience. It's beautiful to see all the positive comments that people leave on here, but if your Ren, they can also create a great deal of pressure, in making you think that you have to live up to peoples expectations, or step it up a notch over your last performance. How can he be expected to do so, when so much of what he produces is so very far ahead of everyone else already?

I had to leave a comment after watching this incredible this reaction. I have been following Ren since “Hi Ren” first came out and have watched dozens and dozens of reactions to this and I have to say, this was the most visually emotional response I have seen. Normally I can spot when the reactor physically falls in love with Ren, and this was no different. I could see the reactor physically evolving with the song. His eyebrows, his breathing, his inclination to not look away. This one felt almost like an instant connection was made by his rapture to the video, “But settle on the ocean floor” and he looked over mouth agape and eyebrows raised, that moment right there… the connection made artist to artist was truly sublime. As many said, and you responded, I am impatiently awaiting the Tales reaction as well as Chalk Outlines. Well done gentleman, well done.

Not only was it amazing as an Opera, the entire video was shot live. There was no "acting" with the audio over it. You can see not only is the guitar plugged in, but on his collar you can see a microphone attached. This is his true sounding voice and instrumental skills. It was also done in one take with multiple cameras set up. Absolutely a masterpiece. And good catch on seeing the lights flicker when the "evil" side is in control and steady on the "good" side. I missed that the first time I heard this song.

That "hope" "rope" line had me crying for a month. That line and "truth in the blender" are my favs. Thanks for the reaction.❤ REN’s moniker is now "the Bard." Wait until you see his other stuff. And absolutely yes, he has gone through some things most profoundly he was stuck in a room in a bed with undiagnosed Lyme? Try "sick Boi", "how to be me", "chalk outlines." He is so genre fluid. He plays classical, raps with the elites, outright sings, and the performance art. He's very special.

Your two most obvious reactions matched mine. They are when he said, " You gotta kill you if you wanna kill me" and when he said, "The voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope." Both those lines cut to my core.

What Sony did to him is disgraceful, he's an absolute genius.....wishing Ren all the success he deserves❤

I think the story about Sony dropping him has been misrepresented somewhere down the line. Ren was on a Justin Hawkins video where he spoke about it, and said that it was more of a mutual decision that, considering his health issues, they couldn't realistically go forward at that time. It was a great interview btw, here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5S4ZZyEgpubhLMsi=KDHaEWTcQT5-y8Cr

He was misdiagnosed and struggled with illness for a long time and the psychological effects that had. He was finally diagnosed with lime disease and his treatments have been helping with everything else

I think with the videoclip in 3 part "The Story of Jenny & Screech" , you gonna love it. Because it's some kind a Bard's story.

This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me… just as this song also resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape imposter syndrome and negative self-talk, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that I *know* I have-was sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

Every time I watch a reaction to this, I'm watching for someone else to have that kind of reaction to that line ("the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope"). I swear I twitch slightly each time I hear that line.
