music in the general areas hasn't expanded great enough to interest me in the last 20 years, the odd band, yes. Talent shows are the fodder for the general public and they lap it up. I still go digging for groundbreaking music and go and watch new bands that interest me, but there's not a lot to challenge anything. When was the last time a band was mentioned in a general newspaper for being too "dangerous" or challenging to our society? A long time ago, that's when. Kids now are happy to listen to shite on their phones/ipods and become socially inept in the process so the chances of them meeting like minded kids and forming band is so unlikely and so sad..

I play bass you see so that's why I listen to bass lines, i'm not saying they're the best band in 20 years, id never generalise like that but, to me, there was always a movement that came about every so many years that scared parents, but in the internet years and that generation, there has been nothing. I agree with the bands you mention, great stuff there, but everything new now seems to be bedroom producers and guest singers and DJs. I hope the searching will produce something interesting as without new music the world will be a very sad place.
