I love to do 3-day fasts. The second day, I'm a little hungry but some salt or apple cider vinegar takes care of that. By the third day, I'm SO loaded with energy, I don't know what to do with it all. And I always want to go longer because I feel great and food seems like a distant memory--it doesn't even cross my mind. (so sometimes I go for four days) But it's amazing how your body loves it! And the longer you go, the more stem cells are generated, so you get rid of all your old, malformed or damaged cells and acquire shiny, new, happy, young cells. Every organ and every function of your body benefits. And it's free! It's a miracle cure, I swear. And the medical and pharmaceutical folks do not want you to know this. I reversed my T2 diabetes and am off my blood pressure meds, also.

Fascinating insights about fasting. I started intermittent fasting last January to lose weight. 60lbs lighter, it’s worked. But, it’s improved so many areas of my life including sharper mental clarity, increased capacity for absorbing information, improved intelligence, more confidence and has boosted my metabolism and willingness to exercise more. I have 10lbs to lose to reach my ideal weight, but I still plan to use IF for the rest of my life as for me it’s the magic life formula. I will use IF to increase my calories to maintain a healthy weight moving forwards once I have reached my ideal weight (9sts 10lbs) . I really recommend IF to anymore looking to have these health benefits. Best of luck everyone on your health goals 🙏🙏🙏

Many many positives with IF, not only for weightloss (maintaining) but also autophagy and overall health. All good & powerful stuff! (My husband started IF when diagnosed with T2 diabetes. No meds ever taken. Blood sugars are now between 5-6) Our bodies truly want to heal themselves given the right opportunities but unfortunately, too many people don't want to try.

I’ve tried the different keto suggested sweeteners and notice a stop in any weight loss plus digestive problems I didn’t have when not eating these sweeteners and staying close to my new way of eating for life. It was interesting to hear about the stories in ' Unbroken ' about how starvation increased mental acuity . About 40 years ago I read an article by someone who had been a medical officer POW . He noted that in the early stages of enforced calorie reduction many POW's noted how various chronic illnesses seemed to clear up .

Wow awesome
@michaeldillon31133 жыл бұрын
@@siobhancleary3018 Hi Siobhan😊. Thanks for your comment . About 40 plus years ago I got interested in Hatha yoga as at that time there was an American yogi Richard Hittleman teaching it on British TV . I had a kind of natural attraction to it . During the programme Richard would talk about yoga nutrition etc. At that time he would talk about the value of fasting . Now at that time I couldn't take that on board because when I grew up my parents and grandparents ( and their peers ) had left bed through practically 50 years of food privation . Two world wars , the genuinely Hungry 30's , and post war rationing that lasted in Britain until the 50's . On top of that was the general problem that life was hard for lots of people and putting food on the table was difficult . My goodness we ate every meal as if it was our last not least because there was still famines in many parts of the world . So the idea that not eating would be beneficial was absolutely counterintuitive and almost an insult to the hungry . Obviously we knew that there was a history of fasting in our own religion , but that was regarded as a privation , a penance , rather than something beneficial . So I think I read that article about POW's in a yoga magazine about that time and I mentally noted but didn't take it on board. Richard also mentioned at that time that it would be beneficial to reduce eating on one or two days a week , and do a longer fast a couple of times a year . My goodness how I wished I had followed that advice then , but that was a time when the idea of missing one meal would have seemed radical . The only time we fasted in those days was when we lost our appetite due to illness or when the cupboard was bare ( and therefore hunger was associated with misery and deprivation ) . Sorry this is a long answer to a short comment , but I thought you might be interested in the background story . All best wishes to you 😊.

You need to drink A LOT of water while fasting. You can also drink tea and coffee without milk and sugar. Start small, even if it’s 12/12 and just do that. Trying to do a lot at the same time can lead to failing. Sometimes people try to start fasting plus a keto diet and full on exercise and then they drop everything. Small steps can take you far.

Absolutely agree. Easy without a lot of extra expensive effort. No counting as long as you are eating whole healthy non-processed foods which we should be doing anyway. No special purchases, no special blending, no heavy thought etc. Everyone who keeps telling me fasting is bad are obviously metabolically challenged - on diabetes, blood pressure and other meds with bellies or no bellies and cigarettes....I will keep doing it

I noticed as I gained weight I started getting a lot more inflammation in my body, I even had a goiter. Since I’ve been fasting 16/8 the past couple weeks my body has changed immensely. I had my thyroid looked at a couple of years ago while in nursing school. Obviously stress eating played a large part in my weight gain, I used to keep food at my bedside. I love fasting so much and I have noticed considerably how much my goiter has gone down. My body feels a lot better as well as I have lost a couple pounds. I can’t wait to see how much more I can lose from changing my lifestyle.

It's so simple, isn't it? I want my life back! All those decades of being told to eat breakfast, snack, exercise more, eat less, ad nauseum. I did all that with a vengeance and was never even near lean EXCEPT the couple periods in my life I was so stressed I would go for hours without food. I may have been healthy when eating as everyone said to but never lean, despite insane amounts of exercise, and it hurt. Jason Fung, you are a godsend!

I love IF! In April I weighed 186lbs and was unhappy with my body. I started with keto and began lost 8lbs within the first couple of weeks. Then I learned about IF and combined it with keto and within 10 weeks I was down 25lbs. Then I got pregnant❤! Not currently dieting right now, but I'm curious to see how IF will heal my body after the baby comes. Doctor doesn't recommend more than a 12/12 IF window.

After many years of not watching my weight and not thinking about what I was eating, the inevitable happened. I ballooned up to 320 pounds and had years of type two diabetes that was out of control. It all caught up with me when a sore on my foot became a two year journey where I ended up having a below amputation due to damage caused by my diabetes. During that two year period in the hospital, I had numerous life-threatening infections which easily could’ve ended my life. I was told that the likelihood of me walking again with a prosthetic was not good. Towards the end of my last stay in the hospital I went a month without eating because of illness while I was in there. Ironically this jump started my new lifestyle of eating. With the help of my faith, family, and the desire to live, I ate one meal a day for the next two years. I usually eight within a 5 PM to 6 PM window and were mindful of my carb intake to less than 40 a day. Today I’m thankful to say that I’ve lost 165 pounds, have completely been healed of my diabetes, and my overall health and mental acuity, are far better than they were 30 years ago. I am never hungry and I do not feel like I’m depriving myself of food. The doctors are amazed, but I know that it was IF that was the absolute key to getting my life in order. This can work for you too, no matter where you’re starting from. Do yourself a favor, do your loved ones a favor, and give this a try and I promise you that you will be shocked by how good you feel and by the change in how you look, how you feel, and how you interact with people. And that walking thing, I regularly hike, bike, kayak, and participate in activities with my large family like I never have been able to before. I’m thankful for what I went through because I wouldn’t be here today unless I had, I only wish I would’ve had the sense to listen to reason before those decisions were made for me. I wish you the best in your journey to health.

Question: When I'm fasting, I keep a bottle of water within arm's reach and every time my mind starts protesting the fast, I take a drink of water to satiate he hungry feeling - to trick my stomach into thinking I ate something. So, to the extent that my trick works for a little while, does that mean my body stops burning fat?? Appreciate any feedback I can get (no pun intended).
@MR-tx7ig3 жыл бұрын
No, absolutely not. Pure water doesn't raise insulin. Black coffee, herbal tea, black tea are all allowed. You can add a pinch of salt to your water for electrolytes. But....don't drink diet soda! It can raise your insulin.

@@disnalee Your doctor should know better than to tell you that. It's been known for years now that Type 2 diabetes can be Stopped in its Tracks by losing excess weight, ditching the frigging sugar and cutting back drastically on carbs, especially the simple carbs!!! Intermittent fasting is super easy to do once your body gets the hang of it, which is usually quite quickly!! And it's Super Healthy for our body whether we are over-weight or not!!😉

@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 if my PCP knew this info he did not share it with me. I visited him a few days after my hospital visit. He said there is no cure for T2D and that I need to take metformin for the rest of life. I didn't know what I should eat with this disease so he said he would have a dietitian get in touch with me. Well the dietitian advice on food choice was to eat carb bc we still need to eat. She suggest whole grain, wheat bread, watch salt, fat, meat, and all foods must be measure before consuming bc you don't want to eat too much or you will spike your blood glucose. So I did that until I ran out of my supply lancet and test strep that I call my Dr office not sure where to get them supply. They setup another appt with a student so I went. Yeah a student training to be pharmacist. There they told me I don't need to measure my foods but just continue what I am doing. I told them what I've been eating and doing exercise. They told me the same thing this disease has no cure so by losing weight and eat the foods recommended I should be okay bc a lot of diabetics are doing this and has no complications. If I don't follow this I didn't want to loose my foot or who knows what so I follow to a T until I got on youtube. I change from their food recommendations to what they say not to eat too much or watch out for. I eat meat, salt my foods, and I don't measure it. I cut sugar and high carbs from my diet and I been function fine. My blood glucose made a big difference that I can see after every meals unlike before with the dietitian recommendations.

I've done prolonged fasting for 30 days last year and lost a total of 14 kg PURE FAT. As the water weight overall decreases with weight loss, making my weight loss total of 19 kg! And that was 1 year before where I initially weigh 102 kg. I'm 1.87 m in height, and now I'm hovering at 76-78 kg. Before this prolonged fasting, it's so difficult for me to lose even 5 kg a year!
