Why did you not work on passing laws? Progressive & Liberal laws make your counry more desirable for immigration, you won't have problems with lack of workers. Also, a good starting strategy is asking to become an Austrian protectorate. You'll be able to wage war against the Ottomans from the very start and slowly reclaim your territories. @@martins3091 No... The Greeks did not refer to it as Byzantium. That name wasn't even used since it was renamed after Emperor Constantine in 330 AD. The Greeks referred to their state as the Roman Empire as they had continuity with the Roman state, but even if you want to use the western European term it would be the Byzantine Empire/Republic/State but certainly not "Byzantium" which only ever referred to the city of Constantinople/Istanbul itself.
