Thank you Bill. Such fair evaluation is very rare to see in both sides. Just to clarify İnönü case; the name of the combat is İnönü not because of his surname but because of the name of the area where combat took place. Actually, Turks started to use surname after republic and İsmet pasha picked İnönü as his surname to honor success he had there as you underlined. But anyway, i really appreciate your commentary and respect your fairness..

İsmet Paşayı onurlandırmak adına ismi İnönü muharebelerine verilmemiştir. Tam tersi İsmet Paşa o bölgede orduya liderlik edip zafer kazandığı için savaşın gerçekleştiği bölgenin adı ( İnönü beldesi) Mustafa Kemal Atatürk tarafından İsmet Paşaya soyadı olarak vermiştir.

That name which is given to Greeks of Anatolia (Rums) from the Greeks of mainland is "γιαουρτοβαφτισμένοι" (yogourtovaphtismeny) (yoğurtovaftismeni) (The ones who are baptised with yogurt). As they are mainly Anatolians and like all Anatolians they use yogurt a lot. It is not "γιουρτοφάγοι" (The ones who eat yogurt). It was not that direct and innocent. (Of course they were also called "τουρκόσποροι" (tourkospory) "Turkish seeds"...)

Under the rule of the Mornachists, in 1916, the bulgarian army invaded eastern Macedonian and occupied a big part of the greek teritories with no resistance by the army. That was an act of treason by the King, but that made him more popular within the Greeks of Old Greece, Old Greece was Greece till 1912, expanding in the north in northern Thessaly. The majority of the Greeks of Old Greece did nt want to go to war and prefered to lose some teritiry in the north for peace. So, The French and the British forced King Konstantine to abdicate and Venizelos came back to Athens and managed to get back the teritiries ocupied by the Bulgarians aand also to occupy western Thrace, still under greek rule, and eastern Thrace, now under turkish rule. The area of Smyrna also got under greek rule, but with the status of a protectorate.
