Strom Daniel has killed at least 12 people and caused widespread destruction across Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria. Greece says the torrential rains have been the 'most extreme on record'. In Greece, four days of downpours have unleashed flooding and landslides, knocked out power, and left thousands without access to running water. Rescue services are struggling to reach those still stranded by the floodwaters.

Finally, I found the only news channel that did a good job! An actual effort to interpret what the locals were actually saying, and not just add some generic speech over them not translating at all what the people were saying. Seriously! I've watched like 10 videos by now and there is 0 effort to translate what the person was saying or even pronounce the places' names in any way that we could understand where they are talking. about.

The only apocalypse is every bob and his granny have a smart phone. There have always been floods, and always will be. It's called the weather.

@@trespire Do you think yourself clever for coming up with that? What are some logical predicates for every Bob and his granny having a smartphone? Hundreds of mines providing thousands of manufactories with raw minerals so that millions of ships can transport billions of products to every corner of the globe. That is an apocalyptic level of consumption. And an apocalyptic level of emissions stemming from this activity WILL and DOES alter our planet's atmospheric content, which directly affects the weather. Human activity has been scientifically linked to the global greenhouse effect since at least the 1890s. Catch up.

The earth is being destroyed in front of our eyes, by natural catastrophes, fires, floods, and earthquakes, yet some still deny that the climate is changing. It reminds me of tobacco companies denying that smoking is bad, so they continue to make profits regardless of how many die from the effects of smoking.

The cost to repair the infrastructure and houses will be mind blowing. Every week brings a new story of catastrophic flooding in another part of the world. Since money is not infinite, it has to lead to economic collapse in many countries.

As a Greek, i find it extremely difficult to drown. But A, old folk died or were terrorized, B, Infrastructure around affected areas needs millions, and C, Businesses, Crop fields, and Animals farmers, were completely devastated. Greece, along with EU should under strict criteria of course, help those affected. We are talking about extremely rare conditions. The concentrated rain numbers were supernatural for our small country with the mild med weather. Thank you all lovely people around the world for your kind words. Peace to the Ukrainian and to all Russian peaceful anti Putin people ;) Be safe!
