Yeah they work the fuck out of me. The same way Costco, Safeway & working in carpentry worked me. If you are lazy you won't make it, it's not that hard to hold a 12 second tack time. At my fulfillment center most ppl hold a 9 to 13 sec tack. You gotta work hard if you want to stay. If you got to use the restroom you can your tack will go up obviously but you won't get fired and once you get back you can easily drop it again. Idk I enjoy it yeah it's exhausting but it keeps a roof over my son's head and food on the table, also full benefits day one and stocks and 401k ECT. I work at the BFI4 kent, WA fulfillment center. It's not like that at all. We get 48 hours of paid time off a year. 20 hours of unpaid time off every quarter. Sick time accumulates per hours worked. Vacation accumulates per hours worked. The only time off option that requires 24 hours notice and can be denied is vacation. Everything else you can use after you've clocked out and left early, or if you wake up and decide not to work that day. On your first day of work after being hired, you start with 20 hours unpaid time and 10 hours PTO. It's a 2 year old building so the design is probably newer. We have bathrooms on all floors and spread out so that walking to one is no more than 3 mins if that. They do track our time off task. You get 15 mins a day and if you keep it under 4:30mins at a time it doesn't count. If you hit 30mins you get a write up, but they go over every instance you weren't working over 4:30mins, if you have a valid excuse like needing a scanner battery, bathroom break, moving to a new station, they'll excuse you usually.

Val B poverty is subjective. People that are poor here are can be considered mid class in Latin America, parts of the Middle East, and Africa. And no America isn’t a third world country, just because it has a big population (which people within it are bound to be poor) doesn’t mean it’s struggling. It has a top economy and military for a reason.
@jonathanbaird81095 жыл бұрын
Why does no one seem to understand what the first world and third world is? It has to do with whether you're a nation that's aligned to the United States (first world) or the former USSR (second world.)

Well thanks for proving a part of my point. Socialists want the government to have control over the companies and the people, so it would almost be as if we want people in charge of their own companies so that way everyone is regulating everyone. Also how many owners if multimillion dollar companies with the same interests are there say 100,000 of them in the US, compared to 300,000,000 American workers. Also you have to look at the roles these people play. The companies do what the people want well enough so they can grow

Just to set the record straight: The Scandinavian countries are all more of a socio-liberalist "ideology", seeking to strike a balance between solid social programs and a healthy competitive market. While it isn't perfect and brings along a whole set of other issues, it certainly seems better to the alternative of the US, with a somewhat rampart capitalistic battlefield, where the foot soldiers are always the general public, and lines are only drawn when enough civil unrest occurs. Of course, I assume the rest of the world benefits from the poor work conditions of the US (much like we all do from China), by getting the benefit of the innovations and solutions, without sacrificing the quality of their own systems. This is an important factor, but hard to conclude how it precisely affects that overall world system, so I'll keep the lid on it for the time being. This is gonna be long as is. I imagine a lot of the general public issues (extremism like SJW, race and gender conflicts) all have a deep-rooted relationship to the underlying conditions as a result of the extreme corruption, and while the problem isn't exactly from uncontrolled capitalism alone obviously, I believe it sparks and amplifies a lot of the discontent there is towards the people in power: But sadly this discontent seems to be directed at the wrong people (again, the general public and not the systematic abuse of the capitalistic structure). Sadly this is nothing new. For example, It took way too long for the widespread use of lead to actually be banned due to extreme corruption. That is just one of the first cases coming to mind, but it's clear to anyone with a better knowledge of US history, that this is not a rare occurrence. I should elaborate: Corruption is not something that is reserved to capitalism. There's been enough historic events concerning socialism to prove that theory wrong. Instead, it seems like it is the rampart and unregulated market that has been the result of the current state of things. The common misconception here is that the Scandinavian countries are full-on socialists, which is outright not true. And it seems like the US should do what it did best once: Find inspiration, but create your own. I will not claim authority on the knowledge of every complex economic system and the crooks and crannies of it all, but numbers seems to support the Scandinavian way though: Most, if not all of the countries under the Scandinavian Umbrella (depending on your definition of the included countries, but of which the most prominent of which are Sweden, Norway and Denmark) all have somewhat healthy competition and are all in the top 10 of the best countries for competitiveness. Meanwhile these countries also all lie in the top of the chain when it comes to general happiness and quality of life. It might be something to - if not strive towards - at least consider and take inspiration from. But sadly the most likely scenario is - as I see it - that the necessary force for change will be a large civil unrest (which might be brewing given the seemingly increasing divisiveness of the US at the moment) or in the worst case a collapse of the country as a whole. Again, I want to iterate, my knowledge might be very limited in some areas. Had to bust out this essay, because it has been brewing in my mind for a while and I had to get it out (hah, phrasing). It's still rough and sporadic, but I think I got the point across. I don't expect many to read it or necessarily contribute with much of value (this KZbin after all), but at least it was therapeutic for me. And apologies for any grammar or spelling errors. While I pride myself on using the English language well, It is not my main tongue. My nan lives in Israel and because when she came there twenty years ago she couldn't speak Hebrew she wasn't able to find a career in her field (rocket engineering fam she's not a stupid person) she worked and still works at the age of 71 as a cleaning lady. She works six days a week except shabbat, and can afford a two bedroom apartment with a spacious living room and a pretty nice view in the middle of Rehovot. She also goes to Hungary and Bulgaria once a year and gets paid her pension. It baffles me that this doesn't happen in America. In fact, my other grandparents live in Russia and, granted, they are highly educated (one's a professor and the other's a doctor) but in their youth they faced incredible racial prejudice (my grandfather is 100% ethnically Jewish, and my grandmother is Bashkir, Tatar and Erzya) and yet they still have a beautiful home, get paid pensions, go on cruises and holidays, because their jobs and their country takes care of them. Why aren't old people shown this kind of respect everywhere????? It's crazy how you can serve a country your entire life, and, if you're working class, continue struggling until your death.

On the topic of Amazon, I worked there as a temp worker in 2016-2017. Somehow I was able to go to the bathroom as needed with no issue. I was quick about it, and there was definitely pressure not to screw around, but I never got written up for that specific issue. The worst part was the long day (10 working hours), with two unusable 15 minute breaks. In that specific warehouse, the breakroom was central so it took 5 minutes to walk there, 5 minutes to walk back, and you had to be in your work location at the end of the break, so the breaks weren't real. That specific issue should be ruled on by the government because Amazon abuses the hell out of it.

The answer is people who work in accounting and finance have the duty to save the company money. If you never suggest any changes to how the company functions, you’ll lose your job because there is no reason for them to pay you. The only way you keep your job is if you add value to the company. The only way to do that is to remove items from AP, reduce salary or cut fixed costs. Everything becomes a game of whether or not you can shave a few dollars off of any given company cost. Next thing you know you are buying thinner toilet paper, coming up with better driving routes to save on gas and skimping on safety checks for aircraft.

Jeremiah John does it metter? Poland is cheaper than the US. Income in Poland is enough for ppl here. Not in the US. I am having money here and spending it here. Not in your country. There are some countries with extreme incomes like Norway, but everything is also extremely expensive. So your argument doesn't make much sense. Here in Poland I can afford most of things that I want. Have a flat, car and travel. Besides that have 22 days of leave. Who cares that my income is smaller than in country that I am not living in 🤔 Hmmmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔
@xXJeReMiAhXx996 жыл бұрын
most people can afford where they live, that doesn't mean the standard of living is the same, presumably your car and flat are junk compared to what the average american has, my argument makes perfect sense to someone that knows what they're talking about, you're making the case that you're better off with dramatically less income because you have a bit of vacation? haha an american can just save for a bit and do the same while still being much richer, and a huge percentage of american mothers can afford to not even work, that's permanent "maternity leave".

And that's the beauty of the propaganda system as it exists today. It's not like people in power conspire to deliver a certain narrative to the public. Media personalities aren't forced to say certain things and omit others. It's the threat of losing a sponsor like Amazon that causes people like Ethan to SELF-censor. Since Ethan isn't a groomed "professional" like Anderson Cooper for example, he forgot that speaking clearly and honestly about these topics (which is what a media personality delivering news OUGHT to do) actually has consequences when you have corporate sponsors. I wouldn't be surprised if Ethan/Hila receive a sternly worded email from Amazon asking for the video to be removed. This kind of stuff has happened many times before, where documentaries about corporate exploitation were dropped from festivals/publishing companies as a result of such emails (threatening litigation). Then again, KZbin's algorithm does well to filter these kinds of videos out of the mainstream so it's not so big a deal.

Neither plain socialism nor (unregulated) capitalism can run a country whithout imploding one day. There are aspects in a society that need to be on capitalist ground and aspects that should be handled in a socialist manner, such as healthcare. "Capitalism is a beauty that dies from an overdose." (not sure who's the one who said that). The US system is simply going to eat itself up. But instead of risking something by trying something new that might let the majority of people benefit from, the USA is so afraid that they rather stick to status quo until civil war breaks out. what a couragous country you're living in.

@@lexium9685 it depends where you live, in a city or wealthy area 15 an hour is nothing, where I live in Michigan (a pretty medium sized tourist area) $15 an hour is considered something you could live off of and I have a friend in Virginia who's parents are able to pay their rent, buy groceries and spend money on things they don't need when only the dad works a minimum wage part time job and does yard work for people in the town

I work in a Walmart Fulfillment Center, if you even mention the work Union you will get investigated, and fired. They will legitimately close a Walmart Distribution Center due to union talk, and open a new one across the street with new management and people. It's fucking nuts. They up our production percentage, they make the job harder than it was even 2 months ago, every mistake you make you get written up, which makes you closer to getting fired almost every week. I've worked there for a year, nothing better in the area. It really is slave labor. They don't call it Warehouse Wage Slaves for nothing.

This discussion is like a conversation I'd have in high school. I remember being just as mad, frustrated and ignorant. Then I grew up, learned a few things, and got over it. People don't have to live difficult lives here. We are given so many opportunities, but people don't take them. Can't find a job? Clean yourself up and try to look presentable. Be proactive with your job pursuits. If you don't like a job then get another one. If you don't make enough money then get roommates. If you can't find a job you like then go to school to increase your list of choices. If you can't pay for college then get loans. Don't want loans? Work part-time and go to school part-time. Maybe you hate the part-time job? Tough. Don't want to do that? Go to the military for 4 years and then your college is free. Don't want to get a bachelor's? Work in a trade. Don't have children before you're married. Don't get married until you have a stable career. Don't live above your means. Don't blame others for your problems. You can succeed here, but people don't seem to get what that takes. If you want to leave and go to Europe then I understand. Luckily you can work towards that in America and you won't be denied a VISA. The option to leave is also yours, but you still have to work at it. We can always complain about how things are in this country, but complaining doesn't do anything but rile oneself up and annoy others. If you want to change the country that requires FAR more work than getting a well paying job does. I'd recommend getting the well-paying job first then seeing how you feel.

This conversation reminds me of something that happened here in South Africa a few days ago with a bank called FNB. The bank “accidentally” deposited a couple thousands of bucks into its customers accounts , revised the money and then charged its customer for reversing the money and they ended up making 28 million Rands (that’s about 2 million dollars), not a lot in dollars but it’s a lot in our currency.

Something to consider with people being money-hungry: typically, it's more about power when it gets past a certain point, and the money is just an instrument for the power.

i dont really care mate - i tell what i know from my life experience not google image search. statistics are a lil more complicated my friend - all i said is a fact. im not into discussion about advantages and disadvantages of different social systems - keep using image search to gain knowledge - god bless.

Statistics ? Advantages and disadvantages? What are you even talking about. I'm addressing your false statement, look I'm sorry but your statement "that's China" referring to bread lines being in China and not the USSR, is objectively false. They were very common in the USSR. Just because you didn't experience this personally doesn't mean it's not true. I don't know why you are still arguing. And I don't use google image search to gain knowledge I use books. I only said to google image it so you could see real pictures of what I'm talking about, seen as you only believe in things you personally can see for yourself.
