I had a thought. Sega is currently looking for another IP, right? Considering they *for some reason* bought out angry birds and are trying to buy out other ips. Now.. They own the Ristar ip, correct? Therefore.. They would not have to spend a dime, couldn't they have revived Ristar. Then again Super Kirby is kind of right too. The charm of Ristar is the fact they're the underdog and have stood the test of time. The fact Ristar is not referenced at all is sad to see but at the same time the fact one game can bolster such a fandom even now is charming.

I love this song, especially how it feels like it was designed around the ramping intensity of the fight; like they expected you to get through Greedy's initial trial by 0:45, so the theme becomes more intense to compensate

That ending, wow. I fully expected this remix to loop awkwardly just like the original, but you managed to extend the most hype parts and turn the ending into a cliffhanger, making me wonder “what’s gonna happen next? The struggle between forces can’t end like this!” Astounding work my d00d!

I'm so happy that Greedy Game finally got the full remix treatment after being in Genesis Medley and that was when I was in Middle/High School or so. This full version wouldn't have happened had it not been for the pals that pitched in and fell in love with Ristar, you know who you are. It was fun to grab footage of the Game Gear version and extra fun to work on the thumbnail alongside my pal Fuzzman who did the art for Ristar while I handled Greedy! Throw Fuzz your support! Fun Fact: Ristar was going to be Sega’s mascot instead of Sonic! …Well, okay, that’s a half-truth. In reality, one of the working ideas for Sonic was a rabbit that used its ears to pick up things. That was deemed too complex, and they moved on to animals that can roll into balls, which eventually lead to Sonic. Years later, Sega made a prototype game called “Feel” with the same grabbing mechanic as their rabbit idea, only the main character uses its arms to grab objects instead of its ears. That eventually became Ristar. I always did like Ristar and how its origins are tied to Sonic’s. The game itself is quirky and fun, I’d rather difficult, hopefully more people will learn about it and give it a shot.

I remember first hearing this theme a while back in, of all things, an Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog Dr. Robotnik YTP (it's called "Robotnik Protects His Sex", if anyone's interested). I remember thinking to myself "wow, this theme sounds crazy, what's it from?!" From there I learned about Ristar and how the music oddly times up with the final boss's attack patterns, and I just thought that was the neatest thing. I'm glad "Greedy Game" (otherwise known as the "Theme of Kaiser") is getting its time to shine here! Here's hoping Wario and Pizza Tower also get their time to shine on this channel eventually, too! I knew about this song from "top video game boss themes" complied by youtubers nearly a decade and a half ago. Auroch of flame or some such, and I first heard this song on one of his videos there. I should have expected as much with how fast paced and hectic the song itself is, but it almost sounds like a damn Dragonforce song when on guitar. It's nuts.

So much nostalgia in such a very well-executed cover! Many hours played as a kid and rarely ever got this far. The music always sped up around the time when the boss opens the black hole and then starts attacking quickly... my nerves could never handle it. I need to play through this again soon. I played Ristar and beat it, but the final boss theme was not properly recorded in my mind, just like many other final boss themes around, until people started voting for the song in Discord. May Madness is a very special occasion for this channel, if this song was not featured in the Mega Drive Medley from 2017, it would have likely never gotten a full version, this is why many consoles deserve a second medley, and unfortunately, I think it's time for NES Medleys to take a break.

Ristar was my first Sega genesis game, when I tell friends about it nobody seems to know or remember, such an underrated game, everyone just remembers Sonic the most for obvious reasons. Loved that game, kinda hard the farther you go too, the bonus puzzles were rather complicated to control back in the day.
