I discovered this song in the Big Hero 6 trailer when I was a kid and I was obsessed with it. Years later I went to a summer camp and met this friend who always wore headphones, one time I asked him what he was listening to and he showed me this song. Turns out the discovered it the same way and had the same type of ✨spiritual awakening✨ while listening to it. I was SO HAPPY to finally meet someone who loved the movie and this song as much as I did. :D

I remember, once upon a time, hearing this song before it was even written. The music that goes along with the rhythm and the words sounds so familiar, and conveys a sense to me, of a wish for the times when life was simpler. I have spent months and years trying to find the song that might be so similar to me, but I know from the disappointment of wishing that I could have those times back so that my childhood songs would sound as they did then, that it just wouldn’t and couldn’t ever be the same. The song then was meaningless, this I know. Just a wordless tune I must have conjured in my head. But now, when I think back on it and long, it brings me back to when my brother and I, we got along just fine. All we were worried about was who got to be which character when we were playing LEGO Star Wars on the Wii. We never had a care in the world, and we didn’t plan or worry about tomorrow. Now, as people, we stress so much just over what clothes to wear after we get up in the morning, and it’s sometimes hard to think about anything but tomorrow. And I often have this feeling that maybe, just maybe, if I can identify the tune running through my head, I can escape from everything else, if only for a while. If I can bring back what now represents to me those days, I can bring the very days themselves back. And sometimes, after listening to such a similar song as this one to that one, I drive myself crazy when trying to make that connection. But, perhaps I never will. Perhaps my brain prefers to play tricks on me and put a song with such wise and powerful lyrics in my memories to imagine what it would be like if I had kept my childish personality. Perhaps when I hear this song, I think I hear that song, playing in my head. And perhaps it’s just an echo.

I finally understood this music video after five years since Big Hero 6 came out. It is hinted that the father is so focused on work and growing up, he almost forgot about being a kid again. I can totally relate since I always had a child of a heart and that won’t change me. His son went out to save him meaning he wants to help him be a kid again so it’s okay to be a child even if you’re an adult. You are denying it but your heart said so otherwise. “I remember the nights, caught up in dreaming my goodbyes.” Really means that he’s so caught up of being a responsible grownup, he always been thinking about how to properly say goodbye to his childhood memories. I learned this throughout my life and I want to be slight responsible but most fun person I can be. The last thing I need is to be workaholic and neglecting my family and friends and that’s not what I want. If you’re feeling this, make sure to spend your life wisely and have an inner kid at your heart.

I always interpreted this song as being about a fall from grace (no pun intended). Words like "I remember the days... Not a soul to betray" "It's all been a show, too late to confess" "To room for heart and soul, no room for innocence" paint a picture, for me, of someone who has climbed and backstabbed their way to the top of the world, and has so many regrets. In the end, they're "dying on top of the world". For all those reasons, to me, this is the story of Luke.

The point that OP was making is that from a "plot" stand point, a kid shouldn't have explosives at all. idk if I even should call the story in music videos as "plot". i took it a slightly different path. I didn't see it as "his son saved the dad" , but I saw it more as a symbolic look into the past. because, well, the lyrics do say "I remember the nights" and then talking about dreams/wishes he had as a child (wanting to grow up). I think this song is simply the singer reminding himself of the good old days. Which is a pretty good message IMO. i also feel the adult world sucks more than I thought it would. As a kid I really wanted to grow up. but it sucks.

Yes but it up until now its always took two weeks to a month to release in Britain, sometimes even before USA get it, the people in Britain who sort out copyright are always on top of everything especially around xmas time considering that a majority of DVDs and films come out around about now. First time i listened to it i wasn't even thinking about the lyrics and was happily singing along. Second time i didn't get what they ment. Third time i cried my eyes out while singing along.
