I am Greek and what most people don't realize is there is no ONE way to make this - there are literally over 100 variations! For example, my family makes it completely different, with no sour cream and no dill. Some restaurants in Greece use lemon and/or also red wine vinegar.

Dimitra, I just re-watched to write down this recipe after I made it the first time since it's my favorite Tzatziki I've ever tried, and I noticed that you used a cutting board on another cutting board when mincing the garlic, and well... that's how I know I'm in the right place!!! :P I love your videos. Thank you so much for sharing all of your knowledge, I have learned TONS about cooking and baking from you ever since I watched one about Turkey for Thanksgiving last year when I cooked my first Thanksgiving dinner for the whole family. What has been most influential for me is how easy going you appear and how relaxed you are when making things. The love and passion you have for what you do so clearly shines through. I did not grow up cooking except on special occasions, and have always associated lots of stress with preparing meals as did my mother and her mother - it has been a dreaded task at times. You have helped me to learn how to play, not be afraid of making mistakes, and think of cooking and baking as more of an art than as a task. Thank you very much for your inspiration! KZbin is a wonderful tool and I am so glad to have found your channel. Love Sara

Hi Sara!! Aww, your comment warmed my heart :) Thank you so much for sharing your story with me and for your support. I'm so glad that you found my channel and a love for cooking and hope that your new skills help you create beautiful, long lasting memories with the ones that you love!! That's my whole reason for being here sharing my passion. I also have a website where you can print all of my recipes. Some of the videos (actually most of them, haha!) do not mention exact amounts but, it's all on my website :) Thanks again, Dimitra

The sour cream really does I think make all the difference too. Also, thank you for showing me a way to strain the water out the cucumber. Other people were saying a tea towel and I don't have that. Your method worked perfect. I will so be making this again. Easy and delicious. Thank you!!

Tip, roast a whole garlic or 10😅 ( while using the oven for something else, saves time & energy) Then, put in tub in the fridge. When you need garlic you can just squeeze it out of the clove & its smooth & smokey. No chopping & garlic hands. Also, you can use mint instead of dill! Enjoy!

I was so excited to make this Greek yogurt at home! It tasted exactly like in the restaurant. Maybe even better. I just throw it on a pita and that’s simple and delicious. I’m Mexican so I make a lot of guacamole all the time for my family, but I love to be able to recreate food from other parts of the world. I’ve made a lot of Persian dishes, Lebanese dishes and now I’m getting into Greek dishes. I’ll be watching your channel and learning from you! ❤️
