Their playing was so tight here, this was their very first appearance on MTV & they wanted to make it count. Dookie could so easily have been forgotten, I watched the Longview video for weeks before MTV finally took a chance, and put it in the “Buzz Bin” (everyone thought they were British). Then once Basket Case dropped as their second single, they exploded.

Back in 1994 I thought these guys were punk posers. Been listening to them quite a bit the past year and can’t get enough of them. They are freaking awesome and their Woodstock performance it was nothing short of epic. If you haven’t seen it check it out. They are so talented and had the whole audience in a frenzy. Mosh Pitt and mud slinging.

I’d stay up until 2AM every Sunday to watch 120 Minutes because MTV played all of the new “Alternative” bands there before they played them in prime time (Weezer, Beck, Veruca Salt, The Breeders…). I also didn’t want the weekend to end, and have to go back to boring school.
