A decade before YT, videos were traded via VHS tape through the mail. This was the most requested bootleg, although nobody had it. The closest anyone had was the unedited Unplugged performance. This rehearsal show was described in great detail in the 1995 Guitar World magazine, and it created a great demand to see this footage - which only surfaced decades later.

I like that there more footage then just the original unplugged just like the Elvis Aloha Satellite concert had an entire rehearsal show that was filmed earlier in the afternoon. I’m impressed the intimacy of this show and the minimalist drumming by Grohl! Originally he had trouble with this idea because he would attack the drums during shows for the maximum impact. Then suddenly he’s asked to turn it down to a minimal percussive sound. He said when he switched to the brushes he was finally able to find the right touch! It worked out perfectly! I remember thinking this isn’t how Dave plays normally and how unusual it was to see him play with a lighter touch. This turned out to be like a Eulogy and the final document of Nirvana live! I had no clue he was going to die and in such a brutal fashion. He had a bad ending and I think it was senseless and sad. He deserved better but it’s too late now. RIP Cobain

I had to pull over to commend Dave Grogl’s commitment, timing and that wonderful melody I’ve sung to myself due to secretly hearing it, in the background, on ‘Polly,’ the band’s and here, specifically a nod to Grohl and the perfectionism necessary for this level of perfectly melodic minillism.

I don't know If this is the full Unplugged Rehearsals. It's definitely more complete than the outtakes on the Unplugged DVD, but you hear Kurt say should we do "Dumb" now and there's no footage or audio of "Dumb" during the rehearsals, and also Kurt said "can we do "Plateau" one more time? So there's obviously a first take of them doing Plateau and this one which is on the Unplugged DVD would be Plateau (Take 2). Wonder if anything else is missing from the full Unplugged Rehearsals that isn't seen here. 🤔
@boneappletea38582 ай бұрын

@George_C-e4v2 ай бұрын
@@kermit68329 That has nothing to do with what I said. Do you think artists on rehearsals 1 hour before a show mess up on purpose? He is clearly being affected by some medication, overall mood/lack of sleep etc. He is not taking it serious. You are not suppose to "go soft" on rehearsals. He even missed the About a Girl solo, wich says it all, he is not in the zone. And that´s why I am so impressed with the final performance because the show was recorded in 1 take and it´s a benchmark for singers

@@George_C-e4v As a former heroin addict who knows the history of this well, the difference is: Kurt got his fix of heroin immediately before the actual show. Kurt was in withdrawal during the rehersal which is why he was lethargic and out of tune. . Prior to the live performance he was able to score some heroin, which is why he did so well. There is a stark contrast in his rehearsal performance and the live show. Rehearsal was w/out heroin and the live show w heroin. It is said the MTV crew were able to get some heroin in NYC for him. Without the heroin this show may have never happened
