I thought it was so respectful that they let the last lyric of the song come from the original version. "If you want to be a hero, well just follow me." It means more coming from John Lennon's voice than it would from anyone else's. And it's been exactly thirty-three years since he died. RIP John Lennon.

God John Lennon was a hell of a song writer and story teller. He was like Mozart. Really wish he could still be alive today. The world really needs him. I wonder what the world and music today would be like if John Lennon was still living.

In case you were wondering, Billie's guitar is an original 1955 Les Paul Custom, the original Les Paul. This version of the song is played 1/2 step up from Lennons standard tuned version. This was also the first performance after American Idiot that Green Day didnt wear makeup.

I love that they took an all acoustic song, and transformed it into a rock masterpiece
@Codex77774 жыл бұрын
The lyrics are THE point of this song and they chose to drown them out. They should have played quieter, preferably with an acoustic set up. Also why did he keep saying 'bee-urr' instead of 'be'. Was he thirsty?
@GabrielTheGuitarist4 жыл бұрын
@@Codex7777 oh stfu. They did a very smart thing by putting their style on it. and that 'bee-urr' is their thing just like blink 182 has their 'yead' instead of head. The fact they left John's version in it at the end shows how much they wanted people to hear his words and the message.

@@chandlorpersaud1546 - I like Green Day but this song is nothing without the lyrics. I have no problem with any artist putting their spin on any song but this particular song loses most of it's power without the lyrics being front and centre. I love heavy rock, hard rock, metal, punk rock... The sound, in and of itself, was not the problem, for me.
