NO! This is why I'm back on this page. I hadn't heard either for ages but have loved them both & heard both versions countless times. So after reading comments like yours I started thinking it was the better version too. As I'm on a Marianne Faithful binge atm I thought maybe I should relisten to Lennon's version before just deciding to go with the "This is the better version' comments because this was sounding fantastic when I read comments during the 2nd play. So played both studio versions & then Lennon's Anthology version & then this again. By the time I heard the original version by Lennon I knew it Lennon's version is definitely better. I love this but Lennon puts his soul into his one just that bit more imo

the absolutely sweet jane sadness thing was a "croatian" dome, home, at 2B Chief Street Brompton. the slogan was "huury home, huury to Dom." and bad guys in media, I believe, rotally ripped em off as these were part of the war movement. As we hurry home, to Dom. Story wwas Roweena's younger sister was named Mariane. her dad was doing LSD resarch in USA came back here, wife had a lover, he jumped off a cliff. Geve the daughters something they would always remember. God is love not a Cliff Richard song.
