As someone who has Red/Green color blindness and astigmatism I find that the green works better for my eyes. First off I see red as red, and green as green, but with my colorblindness if you took a green background for example (trees, foliage) and impose a red dot over it, my eyes can struggle to see the red dot. That is unless I crank the brightness to where my astigmatism goes crazy. The green appears brighter to my eye while being less intense causing less astigmatism issues. I can make both work just fine, but if Im spending my hard earned money Im getting green if I can help it.

@@Gun_Dork with certain shades and hues yes. With green and blue and red lettering. Really anything with high contrast against itself is a struggle and can result in me seeing double, or not really seeing anything but the background image. I always hated powerpoint presentations in middle and high school because half of the class would pick a crazy bright red/green/blue background with red/green/blue lettering and I could never read what anything said.

I'm glad to hear you're liking the green dot! Some huge advantages that people don't recognize. Our eyes are quicker to respond to green stimuli than red, that's a scientific fact. And I really think when you're talking about the law enforcement side, the flashing red and blues can cause some disruptions in awareness, the green helps this.

As someone who is partially colorblind, I can’t see red as well so the green dot is much better for me. I wish more companies offered different colors of dots besides red.

I've tried green and really liked it. Green is supposed to be easier for the human eye to notice. But I'm not sure if that factored into my experience? However, I always use circle-dot reticle. Most shooters prefer just the dot. But I find the reticle much faster/easier to acquire with the circle-dot. Once acquired, it's still aiming at just a dot. I'm now back to red dot because my rifle reflex sight reticle is red and I wanted both rifle and handgun to have the same reticle color. If I get the hankering to go all green I'm gonna have to buy new optics. Hmmm.....

I primarily use green. I have astigmatism and just subjectively I feel I see less of a Star and more of a dot when it’s green versus red

Agree. After many reds I tried a green at my RSO’s recommendation (who also changed over) and I found it to be easier to process with less eye strain or energy, if that makes sense. It felt “softer”. Same view both indoors and outside.

Green grabs your attention more because it is much higher in the electromagnetic spectrum, which means it’s frequency travels faster and further so for a top shooter like yourself it is meaningful as your eye picks it up faster. Thanks for all your teaching👊🏼

after shooting red dots forever on rifles when i mounted a 507k on my 2.0 to learn pistol optics i went with green and love it way more than red. Where i live everything is green in background and it still is way easier to see no matter lighting conditions, so that arguement is just ignorance i think, i love green enough more than red that i specifically got my last eotech EXPS with the green reticle and love it ....green for the win for me personally, also have a bad astigmatism and green always looks cleaner as well...

i have dots of both colors, and prefer the green enough that in the future new dots will be green if it is an available option on what im looking at. its something everybody should try, as we all see color differently.

It’s sucks that most red dots for competition don’t come in green. The Swampfox Justice 2 has a 6 MOA green dot option but I’m hesitant to try it. C+H has a 3 MOA green option but that seems too small.

Green hasn't been around as long and historically is more expensive. If I'm not mistaken it used to have worse battery life but I don't think that's true anymore. So it's probably less popular because most people got used to what's more available.

I can't seem to tell much of a difference for my own eyes. I would probably get more just to be something different. The issue is they are always more expensive just for green, and apparently consume more battery. But if you can run them dimmer maybe that makes up for it? Not sure if the bang is worth the buck at the moment.

Personal experience on listening to your comments on Green dots and previous video on the SRO & Vortex optics, from just an indoor range perspective also having an annoying astigmatism. Red dots really don’t work for me, SRO or Vortex ( red or green), Vortex also due to the bulky housing frame (too invasive on my target eyeline vision) plus I had a few hardware failures. So I tried out Swampfox ( ok cheaper brand, but quality/ reliability never had a problem), initially with their 1x27 green dots (Justice) a long while, but now recently changed to their 1x22 green dot ( Liberty model), as I find I can target focus and co-witness the green dot ( as the frame virtually disappears). I had originally strived for the biggest window I could find, but realized I was watching the dot window more than the actual target for point focus. ( note i have a preference for accuracy over just hitting the paper, And more shooting Glocks/clones and weighted Caniks)

I found that red was blooming too much ( on any brightness setting ) due to my deteriorating eyesight. Googled duo-chrome test online, from the schematic I found that green was perfectly crisp for my particular astigmatism. Was kind of spendy to switch, but now all my optics are green.

Oh great...I bought a timer, I bought a second timer to upgrade the first one. I bought a chrono...shot that one so I bought another...shot that one too, so I bought a LabRadar, that now needs to be upgraded to the little Garmin radar. I bought a pasting gun so I could paste targets faster. I bought extended magazine base pads for all of my magazines for all of my guns. I've updated triggers, recoil springs, sears, hammers, firing pins...you name it I've replaced it. I bought Holosun, Sig, Vortex, Trijicon and some no name cheap red dots. All these things in an effort to make GM someday. Now you're telling me I need green dots? Thanks Ben, do you have them in stock at your store?

I have a green dot on my P229 because the SCS320 only came in green. But the rest of the dots in the house are red. Green is a tad worse on my astigmatism than the red. But I do track it better than red.

I think I'm gonna have to put the green fiber in my front sight and practice with it to see if I can notice a difference. I have noticed it takes quite a bit when indoors for the red fiber to actually matter over no fiber, so maybe it'll help make a decision

Been using the green dot on my 509t's so far and i'm really liking it. I find it messes with my astigmatism less and its easier on my eyes. I feel more attracted to the red than green as well

Being color blind, I can only see red dots when they are occluded. That’s not entirely accurate, I end up spending more time looking for the dot than looking for a target. The green dots were a game changer for me! The only downside is carrying at night

Haven’t tried a green dot, but will try it out. I have to ask. If you prefer a smaller dot why go with a Holosun 507C when the 407C has just the small dot and is about a 65 dollars cheaper?

My astigmasim is worse for the green dot as opposed to the red dot which are crisp for me. I don't know why it is flipped from the usual for me, but both me, my and my brother seem to have very bad astigmasim pattern with the green but none with the red.

I have screwed up color perception when it comes to both red and green for some reason. At the beginning of my dot journey, I tried my instructors red dot. And I’ll be damned if I could see it at any brightness level. It looked like a small transparent pink blob that was hard to pick up. And when he ran it brighter it just looked like a bigger transparent pink blob. Then I tried my friends green dot. I picked that up immediately. And for me the green is a very light green, almost white. But I can “see” it at a much lower brightness.
