You are so kind changing your preference for brushes to accommodate strangers, especially when you share your time and knowledge for free. One thing is that it makes clear can see the obvious difference with using synthetics.

Super patient, you are, Shelley.

Thanks Josephine. I am patient I suppose. I get lost in the process and enjoy painting ... not just the finished work.

I would ask for a video showing us the various mounting and framing options for ourselves and for selling or showing watercolor art. I had never heard of varnishing watercolor art before you mentioned it.

No need to explain tracing. At the end of the day, the painting is gorgeous, and nobody will question whether you drew or traced!

I can be a slow poke when painting but that's my thing I guess. I'm not in a rush to finish. I enjoy the painting process.

It’s not like I paint, but so far it looks very beautiful and delicate. Appropriate for the delicate subject. Thanx for showing your technique 👍🏻🇳🇱

Shelley, so good I’m watching again! Is there a reason you don’t do one grape at a time? Are you purposely going after the unity of the shape and color? In my dry Denver climate, I am inclined to do one crabapple at a time in my painting (they are the same color as your grapes). Perhaps you would advise not, because potential for hard edges between them? Or can those edges be softened if I do it that way?
@shelleypriorfineart Жыл бұрын
Hi D. Yes, the potential for hard lines between each grape is real. There is no need in the first wash to separate each grape since it's the subsequent layers that will do that for us with shadows. It gives a smoother, more consistent wash and is less work ... basically a win win!

I'm surprised how the paint dries slowly enough so you have time to remove it to give the glow. Or, you can mix yellow with bluish-green color. Did you mix any gum Arabic with your water? Or is it the paper?
@shelleypriorfineart Жыл бұрын
I try to really make sure that it's wet enough in the first place. No gum arabic used. I am working on 100% cotton paper though and that will make a difference. (Arches)

Something green always reflects on your eyeglasses. Sometimes on one side, sometimes on both (which covers your eyes). Thought you would like to know.

Thanks Sue. I think it's either the computer screen or the many lights I have around my work area that reflect.

I would love to know how to photo a simple still life with a single light and cell phone , or how you do it. Is your Pthalo, the red or green shade?
@shelleypriorfineart Жыл бұрын
Thanks Sue. Setting up a still life is on my list of demos. Probably will do that soon. My phthalo blue is red shade
