Bryn Terfel Jones, ( Pant Glas, Caernarfonshire, Gales, 9 de noviembre de 1965) es un bajo-barítono galés de ópera y conciertos. Terfel fue inicialmente asociado con roles de Mozart, Figaro y Leporello, pero expandió su repertorio a roles más pesados, especialmente los de Wagner. Se destaca en el repertorio popular y de comedia musical.
Bryn Terfel Jones nació en Pantglas, al norte de Gales, hijo de un granjero (se enteró de la existencia de otro barítono galés llamado Delme Bryn-Jones, por lo que Terfel eligió Bryn Terfel como nombre profesional). Terfel mostró un gran interés y talento por la música a muy temprana edad. Un amigo de la familia le enseñó a cantar, comenzando con canciones tradicionales galesas.
Después de ganar numerosas competencias de canto, Terfel se mudó a Londres en 1984 e ingresó al Guildhall School of Music and Drama, del cual se graduó en 1989, ganando la Medalla de Oro. Obtuvo el segundo puesto detrás de Dmitri Hvorostovsky en el Cardiff BBC Singer of the World Competition el mismo año, sin embargo ganó el Lieder Prize.

FWIW, because this audience might get a giggle out of it, I once heard a world famous tenor, who was about to sing the opera "Rigoletto" at Los Angeles Opera, warm up behind the closed curtain by singing, "What's New, Pussycat" ... he really nailed it, it was terribly funny and startling. And then a few minutes later he sang, "La Donna e' mobile". Bravo to these two Welshmen!

Wales is similar to my state off GEORGIA lots home to lots of great singers, these two two of greatest, ga has Johnny Mercer zac brown, Luke Bryant, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt few a few. I saw you many years ago Tom at a small venue out of Atlanta, called Lanierland actually a chicken farm, you put on quite the show, I was married 64 yrs, lost hubby to Covid and 58 yr old son a year ago. I have always had the biggest crush on you. My hubby would kid me about it. So sorry learning of your wife’s passing. It is a very hard heartbreak, but you must go on, she would not want you to sit and cry, grief.
